**Official** Australian Domestic Season 2013/14

I'd say Henry will open and probably have Rohrer at 3 but the top looks like the obvious selections.

Haze will come in too probs for Can do. Copes, Dermo and SOK need to make some runs cause it's a thin batting line up.

i came up with

maddinson
daniel hughes
henry
patterson
rohrer
henriques
nevill (c) (+) =)
copeland
sok
bollinger
sandhu

but that obviously over-looks the fact they will pick carters and another bowler

Hmmm Patterson for Abbott is a chance I suppose. Carters is a cert after his 96 and pretty solid game against Tassie I reckon. Has there been any indication Haze won't be fit for this week?

444 runs after 3 matches is a huge effort. Keep it up Marcus.

21.3 Qualifying for the Final

The two teams that have the highest aggregate of points at the end of a season shall play off in a final for the Sheffield Shield for that season. In the event of an equality of points, the higher number of outright wins will determine the positions on the Sheffield Shield table. Should there be equality in both points and outright wins, the positions shall be determined by quotient calculated thus:

(i) Divide the total number of runs scored by a team by the total number of wickets lost by it.
(ii) Divide the total number of runs scored against a team by the total number of wickets taken by it.
(iii) Divide the former (i) by the latter (ii).

The team having the higher quotient shall be considered to be the higher placed team.
For the purpose of the calculations and for individual averages a team forfeiting or declaring its innings closed shall be deemed to have lost only the number of wickets that have actually fallen

Hazelwood was supposed to be out for a month.

Abbott should drop out. It's more his position simply not being needed than poor form so it's not like if he does play I expect him to record 0/120 or a pair. Just think we add more by picking a specialist batsman over him and I like to think even NSW would accept this.

I think that NSW might end up playing a team like this: 1. Henriques 2. Maddinson 3. Henry 4. Rohrer 5. Carters 6. Nevill 7. Copeland 8. Abbott 9. O'Keefe 10. Sandhu 11. Bollinger.

Since NSW loves bowling options and Henriques opened in the Ryobi, I think he'll be the one to move up the order in an attempt to not disrupt the likes of Henry. If Hazlewood is fit, Sandhu would probably be the unlucky player to make way.

I just re-looked at the schedule, its an early season must win game for the Bulls. I would be pretty keen to go to a days play if the Test match wasn't on.

QLD are in a bit of trouble this season. The lineup isn't really working and I'm almost tempted to play Hopes at 8 with Hartley at 7. Hartley has 3 50's from 4 innings so if we go down the normal path of picking just the 5 batsman, Hartley must bat ahead of Hopes. It is quite a difficult decision because normally I would expect Moller to make way for Reardon, but his twin 40's looks quite good against the other batsman. There is also Pomersbach who must be close to the team too.

Against the NSW team I named earlier, I would pick for QLD: 1. G Moller 2. U Khawaja 3. J Burns 4. C Lynn 5. P Forrest 6. N Reardon 7. C Hartley 8. J Hopes 9. B Cutting 10 C Boyce 11 A McDermott

EDIT - If Feldman is fit it is a bit harsh to leave him out. Maybe we end up just leaving Reardon out or McDermott and bringing in Robocop Feldman. All I know is that I wouldn't be playing Neser.

Not NUFAN, but replying anyway.

I think the problem with Queensland at the moment is glaringly obvious - they've got way too many good middle order batsmen, and not enough spots to put them in.

1. Pomersbach, 2. Hartley+, 3. Khawaja, 4. Burns, 5. Lynn, 6. Forrest, 7. Hopes*, 8. Cutting, 9. Boyce/Hauritz, 10. McDermott, 11. Feldman

No actual openers of any quality, and Hartley opening gives him a better chance to prove to the selectors that he is up to it with the bat after all, and means they don't have to mess around with the development of Burns in the middle order.

Yeah that is a strong team Dan and I would be very happy if we picked your team. Like I said in my last post which you have probably only just read, Moller is likely to be retained, but I guess it just becomes a shoot out between Moller, Pomersbach and Reardon.

Yeah, I initially suggested that as a utopian 'everyone fit and firing' type thing, however with Moller performing relatively well last game, it'd probably be him retained up top, with Pomersbach left waiting in the wings. Tough on Reardon too, but tbh neither of him and Moller have any sort of international potential; I'd rather see QLD playing them out of position or not at all, rather than messing around with Khawaja/Lynn/Burns
