We're back up in the rankings, tied with South Africa at 3rd place.
If we beat West Indies 5-0, we'll only gain 1 point.

Since hitting his double ton on 24th Feb 2010, outside of the World Cup Tendulkar has played just 2 out of a possible 42 ODIs.Yeah I agree. Jadeja's batting could be worth a lot to the team but in his current role he's only going to be of any use in rescue operations. That said, I think he played some pretty rapid innings in the last IPL, so it might be something he's been working on since his last run in the team that we're yet to see.
There's also the matter of what to do when Yuvraj, Sehwag and Tendulkar are all available again. What's India's best ODI team now? If you want Dhoni at 6 and Jadeja at 7 for balance reasons then you have six batsmen vying for five spots - and they're no mugs (Sehwag, Tendulkar, Gambhir, Kohli, Yuvraj and Raina). Might be time for Tendulkar to hang up the ODI boots.
Yeah, I think he should just play till he gets that 100th hundred (in either Tests or ODIs, then retire from the LO.Since hitting his double ton on 24th Feb 2010, outside of the World Cup Tendulkar has played just 2 out of a possible 42 ODIs.
I really don't see the point in Tendulkar playing another ODI considering how little he's played in the format in the last 2 years.
It's more about the team composition, mate. Sehwag isn't a great limited overs player, in my book. I don't see a better ODI opener in the nation than Tendulkar and Gambhir. And in the middle order, you have guys who've done very well in a position.Don't see Sehwag being left out at full strength.
Well at full strength it gets tricky, Id say at full strength it's probably: Sachin / Sehwag / GG / Kholi / Yuvi / Dhoni / Raina / Ashwin or Bhajji + 3 seamersYeah I agree. Jadeja's batting could be worth a lot to the team but in his current role he's only going to be of any use in rescue operations. Agreed! Yadav should be groomed for test cricket. He's the most promising young quick (actually quick and not a seamer ) bowler in the nation - a fair few leagues ahead of Varun Aaron in the longer format, IMHO.Vinay and Aaron are probably ahead of Munaf in the pecking order now. Don't think Yadav should play ODIs though.
yeah coz when you did it, it was so original..Loving Turbs' signature.

Forgot the 2007 Ashes?
I reckon Davies needs to playing whether or not Kieswetter keeps his place or not, tbh - definitely one of the best limited overs bats in the country by my reckoning. Buttler too probably although finishing the innings off, which is his forte, wasn't really the problem in this series; it was setting it up for the finishers in the first 35 overs (and the bowling). Not going to deny that during the series I wanted Bell in the team. Seeing him play today reminds me why he was dropped in the first place. Great test player, excellent technique but probably doesn't score quickly enough with pace of the ball. Bopara .
I'd probably go for this team in our next ODI series. Not perfect but as someone mentioned before, all in preparation for the World Cup.
Cook
Kieswetter
Trott
Pietersen
Buttler
Bairstow (wk)
Patel/Stokes
Broad
Bresnan
Swann
Finn
EDIT: Forgot all about Morgan! He'd be in for Patel/Stokes but at #5. Never really been convinced with Patel. On paper he is a good player but sometimes his role in the team is opposite to what he actually is

Right now playing in domestic T20 competition. Sehwag and Ishant Sharma also taking part in that competition.Agreed! Yadav should be groomed for test cricket. Any news on Nehra? He still can be a serviceable ODI option, right? Experience can come handy when the screws are turned on in a LOI fixture.
Tremlett is pretty dire in one day cricket. Like Bresnan, poor ODI performances resulted in the general public under-rating his Test prospects for a while. No Dernbach there?
I'd chuck Kiltwetter out, get KP to open and throw in Patel/Stokes in addition to Morgan in the middle order. Patel's selection would be more based on where the team plays.
And btw, how good an ODI bowler is Chris Tremlett? Tremlett in place of Bresnan, possibly?
A bit of a mystery why Davies was dropped in the first place. Would take him over Kieswetter any day. Think the selectors have disgarded him though. With Anderson I think what works against him is the length he bowls. He'll be a handful early on but as the innings goes on I can see him giving a lot of runs away.I reckon Davies needs to playing whether or not Kieswetter keeps his place or not, tbh - definitely one of the best limited overs bats in the country by my reckoning. Buttler too probably although finishing the innings off, which is his forte, wasn't really the problem in this series; it was setting it up for the finishers in the first 35 overs (and the bowling).
I'd take Jimmeh ahead of Bresnan too; being a pretty dire ODI bowler is what got Bresnan so under-rated as a Test prospect in the first place.
some of the sigs were on till the 2009 Ashes.. I ll let you figure out the logic.Join date: July 2008.
