*Official* - Pakistan in New Zealand 2010/2011

I watched the first two wickets fall from the morning for Pakistan and thought ah well another collapse, then I went to sleep. Woke up to see the match was over and I went berserk. The lower order, neigh, batting order showing some gutso and the bowling attack looking threatening was music to my ears. I thought that if Bangers could beat New Zealand, I mean Thrash, then if we couldn't, we were pathetic. But no. We did do it!

Tough luck for New Zealand. Tim Southee was unlucky a bit on the first day and for the first few overs in the second day, but to be honest I wasn't really impressed with him. The batting didn't get going , but with experience I guess that will come. They fought well I guess but I think Pakistan nailed the test with that huge partnership between Misbah/Asad took the game away.

By the way I thought the commentary was damn funny and was a good commentary throughout the game, Ramiz is always a butt though. Was lolling when Richardson was arguing because Pakistan didn't score for like 5 overs, and was prasising it and the other guy was flaming Pakistan for it, was very funny!

Shows the sad state of Pakistani cricket, though. Pakistan have been pulling off wins and near-victories all over the globe without some of their best cricketers and with inept management.

All those big ifs. If the politics wasn't there, if there was no match/spot-fixing, if all the players were treated right and the top ones were fielded, Pakistan would be in the top 3 for my mind.

a new low for new zealand, all 3 seamers consistentley bowling in the 120k , thought arnel was the pick poor feilding saw two catches youngs was awfull then ryder go down, predictable pakistan totall then i woke up to 110 all out. pathetic. thing is i think this is about at this stage the best team available. would have played bennett if fit.

While I am appalled at the performance I think (and believe the general consensus is) that this is most definitely or best batting line up with TMac the only one with real questions around him (I refuse to take dropping Guptill seriously because he has been in good form of late, just needs to nurdle spinners) and all of these top 6 will be our top 5 in the years to come (Gup opening, Williamson up to 3). So after cooling down I believe there is no need to panic, it's just one of those things that happens. At least we aren't Australia.

One more thing, a massive positive from this game has to be that of Tim Southee, looks as if he is learning how to bowl on flatties and is able to go through spells without producing that four ball every over, he was also able to keep his pace up all day unlike before and seems a much fitter man. The Indian tour seems to have done him wonders. Batting was also a minor bonus too.

Proves that Butt/Amir/Asif are guilty .

Pakistan since the spot-fixing broke have performed much better as a team I feel.

its quite amazing how this less talented but more focused and disciplined team is soooo improved.

its just gutting to think that is asif/amir had their heads screwed on (the right way), and PCB were able to look after assets (instead of being complicit in their demise) this team would be in and amongst the top tier.

our batting is much improved, thats really encouraging.

now they need to start hitting centuries, especially the younger kids.

btw, what do poeple think if wahab riaz? does he have a future?

So true.

Like Gul he's a good support seamer will never be good enough to lead an attack.

Crikey, what a result. Went to bed at lunch and never expected it to be over already.

Good performance from Pakistan, makes you wonder how good they could actually be if they bother more than just the odd game.

well by pak's standards, and by the high-ish expectations of pak fans he does not seem like a world beater ala asif/amir

but he does have pace, and can get reverse swing, would like to see him get a run based on the raw ingredients he does have.

True. There is such a lack of commitment as well. That was the thing about Imran Khan actually which was the hallmark of his leadership. He was very committed himself and he made sure everyone played with the highest commitment. Imran's teams were not as talented as some of the teams that we have had after him but there was commitment in his team.
