The fans were going absolutely nuts for Christian, MVP and Shelton and you would have so many new fresh storyline possibilities with these guys winning.
I marked out massively for Christian wearing his hooded-pyjamas outfit, that he hasn't worn since his comeback. Was so hoping he'd win.

The one positive of Punk winning is that they surely will have to do something different with MITB now. Maybe turn Punk heel, or have someone else win the briefcase from him.

The hooded jacket is awesome! All we need now is for WWE to start selling some Captain Charisma t-shirts!

Well, they'd have to turn Punk heel wouldn't they? Otherwise it's just a case of repeating what they did last year.

HBK is the most loved/hated wrestler on the internet, some of it justifed some of it not

Kid Rock ruined Mania, until HBK and Taker Saved it. 30 minutes of greatness and none of it was wasted, the springboard dives made it really seem like the match was gonna end right than and there. Both of them could have easily been paralized or thats how they made it seem like.

btw: Ricky Steamboat is awesome, Fans wanted Christan to win & Punk got booed.

Whatever it takes!!!
lol... the same thing I heard in the other wrestling site I visit.. which is better than all those smark sites you guys alluded to, IMO..

Seems apart from HBK/Taker nothing else was really that great. Perhaps good for a normal PPV but seems like for a Wrestlemania, the event was a little bland.. Would you guys agree to that?

BTW, we get wrestlemania here only on Wednesday.

Just so we're clear. I was referring to how a lot of people hate his wrestling. This isn't hate based on the person who apparently used to be (politicking, moody, backstabbing etc), people actually hate his matches. In truth I wouldn't care if people hate his matches because everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but these are people who'll talk about how crap Michaels' offence is, then they'll praise a match like Warrior v Savage from Mania 7, ignoring the fact that Warrior is one of the worst offensive wrestlers in history. I'm not saying that was a bad match because it wasn't, but people should be consistent in what they say. Anytime I defend Shawn Michaels it's normally because somebody blasts him for something about his ability, but then they're happy to ignore that same something with another wrestler. It's inconsistent and they're playing favourites.

I've always believed that with people like Shawn Michaels, Shane Warne, Michael Schumacher and a few others, people can't seperate their hate for the person from their critique of their ability.

Pretty much summed it up there, masterblaster. Some good, some bad, and one all-time classic in HBK-Taker. I'm pissed off with the Triple H-Orton ending, and confused by MITB, and disappointed with the tag match being pulled, and once again confused by JBL-Rey, but mostly I'm trying to focus on the sheer genius of two of my all-time favourites.
It wasn't pulled per se, it took place before the PPV went on air, personally I think they could have fit it in instead of Kid Rock's mimefest 8-). Carlito & Primo won.

Having just read over the thread, it seems I enjoyed WM more than most. maybe it was the pizza, beers and mates being here, i dunno, maybe it was because I haven't watched a live Mania in quite some time, but I thought it was awesome.

I enjoyed the MITB. I did find Punk winning a little random; the point where it looked like Christian was going to win would have been a good way to finish the match, and the crowd reaction was immense. Hopefully he gets drafted to Raw or Smackdown and gets a decent push now because there is no dobut that he's over, despite having one of the most anti-climatic comebacks of all time.

The one thing that did disappoint me about MITB was that there was two pretty badly botched spots and these were disappointing. CM Punk seemed to bottle it when Christian hit him with the unprettier off the ladder, and there was a bit of a ****-up between MVP & Shelton Benjamin. I'm not complaining too much, but if these spots had gone properly they would have both been very impressive IMO.

The battle royal was obviously somewhat average, but they got it over quickly. It did seem a bit pointless having former divas come back to zero exposure. The end was funny though.

Jericho and Steamboat put on a hell of a show after they got rid of Piper & Snuka. There were a couple of times were I really thought Steamboat was gonna take it, but they wrestled brilliantly. And I agree with masterblaster that the ending was appropriate.

I enjoyed Jeff V Matt. Again, masterblaster called this match as being a feud-starter, and I agree, I think the next couple of PPVs could see some good matches between them. The twist of fate at the end was brutal!

JBL V Mysterio was a little strange; I was glad they got it over with quickly as I wasn't looking forwards to it but it's really odd to have a match that short on a PPV, never mind WM. Nonetheless, let's hope JBL goes into the commentary box to replace Tazz as some have predicted round these parts.

HBK V Taker - what can I say about this? It was one of the best matches that I have ever seen. They were both amazing, and I marked out so much for HBK all the way through, every time I kicked out I was turning to my mates screaming that HBK was gonna end the streak! I could watch that match another five times today.

Mind you, was I the only one who was worried for a minute that Taker was genuinely injured when he landed on his head outside the ring? Me and my mates thought he'd hurt himself as it looked like he landed funny

I actually enjoyed the triple threat. It was nothing special, but let's be honest it was never going to live up to what had just happened before it. I thought the ending was impressive to say the least!

Finally, I seem to be the only one who enjoyed Triple H V Orton. I found the match really interesting, but the ending was poor. It's not so much the fact that Triple H won that annoyed me, but the anti-climatic way it happened. As soon as the ref counted three, I flicked the time on to see if there was a possibility of a twist. Very strange.

Triple H and Orton look set to feud for a little while more, so whether it's all part of a bigger plan I don't know, but that's not really what the WM main event should be about!

Hopefully the draft next week shakes things up a bit. They have pretty much told UK viewers who is going where as they are already promoting the matches for Raw & Smackdown when it's over here. I won't give anything away mind.

Anyway, back to WM, I'd probably give it 8 out of 10, on the basis that I really enjoyed it. Would have been a 9 if there had been a decent finish.

edit, by the way, how amazing were HBK & Undertaker's entrances? Phenomenal.

Think you're wrong on this. Most people I know who dislike HBK(myself included) are more than willing to give him props for his in-ring ability because he is quite outstanding in pretty much every facet his size allows him to be. Not sure I've read anything on here where people have doubted how well he can go.

The only thing I can think of where people criticize his matches is when he's burying a good talent which links into more of his perceived backstage antics rather than anything else.

Okay, basic spoilers below

Okay, so from what I can remember, Orton seems set to go over to Smackdown, and in his place Edge is moving over to Raw. Jericho will stay on Raw, Triple H stays on Smackdown.

There are more, my memory is lagging a bit so I'll probs come back and edit. But what i can tell you is that in London next week Triple H and Orton will have a rematch in a steel cage. I wouldn't be overly surprised if Orton gets his WM moment there actually.

Nice, if the first spoiler is true it gves credence to some of the theories going around right now.

I haven't heard that stuff of that sort happens now.. I heard about how he used to it all the time in his pre-2002 run but since then I have read very clean stuff about him... Are you implying he still does all that?

I can't see where I did?

Or maybe I should have said The only thing I can think of where people criticize his matches is when he was burying a good talent which links into more of his perceived backstage antics rather than anything else.

Either way, I'm a bit cynical about people 'finding god' and all of a sudden changing their ways completely, suffice to say I'll leave that debate out of this thread.

Sounds good. At least this keeps Triple H away from Raw. Although what does this mean for Legacy? Do they get drafted too?

Also have you heard anything about where Christian ends up? Does he end up being drafted to Raw or Smackdown or is he still stuck in the backwaters of ECW?

Well I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Since coming back I don't recall Shawn burying anyone really badly. In fact he's kept himself well and truly out of the WWE Title picture and I think he only had one reign as World Heavyweight Champion after coming back which was back in 2002 after he won the Elimination Chamber.

I think he's been great ever since coming back helping to elevate guys like John Cena, Randy Orton and Edge further. Of course his feuds with Chris Jericho have been the highlights, but I don't recall Shawn burying anybody too badly.

Yeah, I think what I meant to say here was I don't think someone can all of a sudden go from a bit of a douche to being a saint like he claims. Props to him if he has developed some humility and professionalism this late in his career/life.
