may not be wrestling but at least the odd appearance is still possible, I think???
From all accounts he doesn't view professional wrestling in a very positive light anymore and his publicists have told him not to associate himself with WWE if he wants to be taken seriously as an actor and not just as another 'wrestler/actor'. A promo appearance like he did for the WWE Hall of Fame is possible, but a full on feud with someone is extremely unlikely.

Personally, I can see him returning, but it won't be for maybe ten years or so. The movies will dry up for him, and even if he can't wrestle, he'll miss the fans enough to eventually make the odd live appearance here and there.

I put Smackdown on tonight only to discover Smackdown wasn't being shown, just a bunch of Wrestlemania highlights. loved the highlights, but what happened to Smackdown?

For us in Australia, Smackdown is being shown tomorrow just the day before Wrestlemania. The Captain Comeback article was pretty cool even though if it was partly in character. I still think he has the best chance out of the entire group to win MITB, but with WWE we've been wrong before.

Confused the crap out of me when I turned it on halfway through Michaels/Austin. Was good though. :)

Just watching the PPV now, simply amazing so far.

By far the best match so far was Shawn Michaels v Undertaker match, simply amazing.

Great PPV overall

Slightly numbed by a disappointing ending to the main event. but overall, each match (women's farce aside and the RMJ V JBL squash) was very good.

HBK V Undertake was immense. Absolutely amazing. 'Marked out' so to speak for the whole match.

Will post back more detailed thoughts tomorrow. At the minute I am drunk and happy, enjoyed that muchos

My Wrestlemania thoughts are simply WTF?! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the show but it was definitely one of the weaker Wrestlemania's in recent times except for the Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker match which should be a match of the year candidate.

Firstly things kick off with MITB, which was great. Shelton's spot off the top of the ladder was superb, but CM Punk winning again?! WTF?! What could you possibly do again with Punk that we haven't seen last year? Win the title, get buried as World Heavyweight Champion. I can't understand why somebody like MVP, Christian or Shelton didn't win.

The whole Miss Wrestlemania Diva Battle Royal was a huge waste of time and I was so disappointed that I couldn't even spot Torrie Wilson, Molly Holly, Sunny and Jackie Gayda. You simply couldn't follow what was going on until Santino won the Battle Royal.

Jericho vs The Legends was really well done. Ricky Steamboat was so impressive and it seems that he could really go in the ring. Watching Chris Jericho wrestle his idol was just awesome and the match was constructed perfectly. Rourke knocking out Jericho was the right ending in that Jericho goes over but still gets what he deserves.

Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy was what you would expect from these too. Some good storytelling, some crazy spots and the right man winning the match. That twist of fate on Jeff was really sickening. I'm looking forward to their rematch at Backlash.

Rey Mysterio vs JBL was pretty baffling in that they only gave it 20 odd seconds but okay if this is to further JBL's retirement.

Now Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker was absolutely phenomenal, one of the best matches I've seen in a long time. These two brought it in the ring and the finish was simply superb. Match of the night without doubt.

The two blandest matches of the night were the two title matches. The World Heavyweight Championship had the right man winning but with Big Show added to the mix lacked any sort of chemistry or spark. Bland match.

Triple H vs Randy Orton was a huge let down. A slow, bland and boring match up with the wrong guy winning. Hardly any offence for Randy Orton and Triple H dominated the match. Orton didn't look like the psychotic wrestler that he is and Triple H got his Wrestlemania moment.

Overall I'd give the show a 3.5/5 rating. Some very questionable booking here and the two title matches lacked the spark that is normally associated with Wrestlemania title matches.

Spot on there i reckon. Overall two matches i liked were Taker's and Hardy's, everything else was pretty poor. Part of the MITB was good but didn't expect CM Punk winning it again, Christian would've been soo much better.

Orton v HHH match was pretty poor, after the buildup it was a serious let down i thought.

Gutted I had to pull out of my annual Mania bbq because of a work deadline but reading the spoilers it doesn't seem to have been anythig spectacular other than the Taker-HBk and the MITB match.

Having Big Slow in one Title match and Trips burying someone in theother sound hilarious too. That said, the money would've been worth it for the Taker match alone and by the sounds of it, would've been an impossible task to follow for the matches afterwards.

Will definitely download the Taker and MITB matches.

Pretty much summed it up there, masterblaster. Some good, some bad, and one all-time classic in HBK-Taker. I'm pissed off with the Triple H-Orton ending, and confused by MITB, and disappointed with the tag match being pulled, and once again confused by JBL-Rey, but mostly I'm trying to focus on the sheer genius of two of my all-time favourites.

I'm shocked at the amount of criticism this Wrestlemania is getting at other wrestling forums I've visited.

The money in the bank ladder match was the right way to heat up the crowd for the show. Did the match mean anything? Nope. But it had a few crazy spots and the thing about spot-fests is that while you'll never watch them again, they're entertaining for the moment. It was the right way to start the show. Shelton Benjamin's jump off the ladder scared me for a second because I thought he landed on his head. One day somebody's going to get very injured in those matches.

The Divas Battle Royal was stupid. I don't think anybody would have noticed Torrie Wilson, Molly Holly or Sunny if the commentators didn't briefly allude to them. Makes you wonder why they were in it when their presence meant nothing. I was laughing when Santino started doing his dancing though.

The Jericho v Legends match was sad until Steamboat got into the ring. There was absolutely no crowd involvment for Piper and Snuka. In fact it kind of worked against them because after months of Jericho saying they were washed up, they sure as hell looked it. Piper's swearing was entertaining though. But gosh it looked sad. But suprisingly Steamboat, who's kept himself in pretty good shape, did a good job and at whatever age he is, he actually pulled off some good stuff. I marked out for his skinning the cat move.

The Hardy's match was poor but I expected it to be poor. Neither are good wrestlers and it was always going to be a piss poor garbage match. I swear those two are just typical indy wrestlers.

JBL v Rey was short and I was thankful for that. It was the one match of the night I didn't want to see.

Shawn v Taker was easily the match of the night and the reason I decided, very late, to buy the ppv. The thing about Wrestlemania is the matches aren't the same when you watch them on DVD later on. I don't mind it if I visit a match later on and it's not all that great. If it's great for the moment then you've enjoyed yourself. I had the luxury of not knowing who'd win either, which I think made the match better. Although honestly, it's disappointing that you know in every WM Taker's going to win. It's part of the reason I reacted so shocked after HBK kicked out of everything.

I didn't care for the first half of Shawn v Taker. It felt like a lot of stuff that was going no where. But after both men dives onto the floor the match shot upwards. There was Shawn trying to get the court-out. Shawn trying to super-kick Taker. Shawn kicking out of so many finishers. Taker kicking out of the SCM. My favourite part was when both men started selling the match well and just starting landing whatever they could on the other. Major props to the Undertaker for selling that as the hardest WM match he's ever had. His reaction after Shawn kicked out of the last-ride (or was it the TS?) was priceless. The crowd loved it and the JR was blown away (and it sounded real).

People will blast me for this. But that match reminded me of Austin v Rock from WM17. I'm not a huge fan of the first half of that match because it just feels like two men punching each other for 20 minutes doing nothing. But when they hit their ending stretch the drama was tremendous. It was the same with Shawn v Taker. The first half did nothing for me, but when they hit the end it went nuts.

Unfortunately it's a Shawn match and will get criticised, analyzed and demonised by every ****ing smark on the planet who'll find something to pick it apart.

The triple-threat sucked. I wish is was just Cena v Edge because they could have kicked out something good. Nobody cared about much of anything after Shawn v Taker.

The main event was good. Like I said, Orton did some amusing stuff in the match. But it was a main event Triple H won so it'll get ripped to shreds by everybody on the IWC. Already it's gotten some scathing reviews on the websites I've visited. Seriously, it was an OK match. Nothing special, but OK.

I don't think anybody would criticise the Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker match. The rest though deserves criticism, especially as it was a Wrestlemania PPV.

The wrong guy won MITB and the wrong guy went over in the Triple H vs Randy Orton match. What could you possibly do with CM Punk winning MITB again? What do you achieve having Triple H going over Randy Orton when a win for Orton would cement his status as the biggest star in WWE today.

The booking was really questionable and some segments like the Diva Battle Royal and the Mysterio vs JBL match were terrible. By the way, Ricky Steamboat was awesome as was Chris Jericho.

Sorry the post I posted above came from a wrestling website I post at and I should have edited it some more.

If you're somebody who posts at wrestling websites as opposed to say, cricket websites where there's a little wrestling discussion, you'll find that Shawn Michaels is one of the most criticised wrestlers that's ever existed. I mean some of the stuff people write about him is just pathetic. These are "hardcore" fans who seem more intent on sounding smart by picking apart something people don't understand, making them seem smart.

I'm talking about websites such as:

deathvalleydriver
thesmarkmarks
toa - the other arena
wrestlingclassics

etc.

If I were you I'd stay here at CW talking about wrestling. The minute you get involved with smarks the instant wrestling becomes less fun.

As for the rest of the stuff you said...

- Yeah Triple H winning was the wrong move in my opinion. It should have gone to Orton if the WWE wanted a full return for their investment in him.

- I don't think there's anything wrong with CM Punk winning. Finlay isn't a character the WWE is ever going to put in a world title match as a serious contender. Benjamin and MVP aren't main eventers yet (they may never be). Henry is just an ECW wrestler and Kane's entering into the twilight of his career. If you believe what the "sheets" are saying, the WWE aren't serious about Christian. Punk was the right choice. He's over with the fans and fans can buy him as a contender. Besides, they botche dup his world title reign last year so he gets another chance to get it right.

- Jericho and Steamboat were great. But golly the fans just couldn't get behind Piper or Snuka because everything they did looked like crap. As I said, it went against them because after months of Jericho saying they were washed up - they sure as hell looked it.

I don't post on those websites because it's generally full of rude, uneducated people trying to stir up trouble. CW is the best place with people like Barney, Duffer and Geraint to discuss WWE.

If you read my post on the previous thread, you'll see how I feel about the show. About CM Punk winning MITB, I'm a big CM Punk fan but he had no business winning this years MITB. Plus I'm probably a bigger Christian fan so I feel a bit upset that he didn't win this year.

The fans were going absolutely nuts for Christian, MVP and Shelton and you would have so many new fresh storyline possibilities with these guys winning.

As for Triple H, the guy needs to seriously get over himself. Sure he was great at one point, but seriously he's not as good as he thinks he is and he doesn't need to main event every damn PPV especially in 2009. Triple H going over Randy Orton achieved absolutely nothing.
