How do you guys ever support teams with imports from other states like Klinger, Rogers, David Hussey and co.
That's a bit different as they actually decided to pack up and move states for more opportunities, lifestyle etc. It's a big comittment. McCullum's just playing a couple of games for a wad of cash and in no way represents NSW.

Last time I check the wag of cash is going to Otago, he is playing for free and pride.

Lol mountain out of a molehill in this thread.

Good on NSW. He's only being bought in for the Champs league, that's it. He's not replacing NSW wickie who still plays, but one of their Bats drafted in for Aussie limited overs.

It's Win/Win for absolutely everybody.

-It's a win for McCullum as he gets another shot at at the champs league should Otago/Kolkata not make it, and he gets a warm up in Aussie ahead of the ODIS.
-It's a win for NSW as they get another international quality bat for their side as backup for their players having to play for their IPL sides in the CL and not being available. Actually winning this final hardly matters at all.
-It's a win for IPL as it means NSW are more likely to field a stronger team rather thanh one that's going to get rolled due to missing their best talent.
- It's a win for Otago as they can give some gametime to Aaron Redmond in the upcoming semifinal, they already qualify for the final and Redmond will be playing in the final game due to McCullum being on international duty anyway.
- It's a win for Otago development as McCullum is donating his match fee to them.
-It's a win for average joe spectator of the Big Bash final as they get to watch an international quality 20/20 bat instead of some unknown second/third stringer

Meh, the only people who could feel aggrieved would be dyed-in-the-wool win or lose state supporters, and purist posers, but to the purists it's already just a 20/20 lark and I wouldn't mind if my local team had a good ring in if it increased their chances of winning games.
Exactly.

I suppose it's only the few top players who can make a lot of money doing this. You can probably play quite easily for 3 T20 sides and then spread your bets as to getting in the Champions League.

Having had time to reflect, I don't mind one import per State side. However, it's probably best that they play the whole season/tournament, rather than being plopped in just for the final or the last couple of games.

They should allow a NZ team to compete in the big ba$h or let teams have NZ players. We need the $$ to keep funding our state comps and for developing youngsters.

In a couple years there is likely to be a T20 domestic tournment with teams from Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
