Ridiculous form from NSW. Would have no issues with brining in someone for a season, but for just a final?! Hope we smash them in the final.
Lol, I wouldn't wanna take it that far, just hope that McCullum fails consistently and that NSW are banned from picking internationals.

I hate this on so many levels. Firstly, as has been stated, the sheer ridiculousness of a player getting signed up just to play in a final really takes the whole point away from developing team spirit and progressing as a team throughout the season.

Secondly, I firmly believe that Australian state teams should try attempt to remain representatives of the state in its entirety to ensure they actually stand for something other than a market share. Players packing up their lives and moving across the country is fair enough but signing up non-residents really just seems wrong to me. I don't buy into the whole "it denies a young player an opportunity" crap but as someone who actually tries to follow state cricket seriously and cheer on my state team, this is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

And last, but certainly not least, I'm a NSW fan and I can't stand Brendan McCullum. I definitely won't be able to support him while he's out there which will detract from my ability to support my state.

The whole thing is just dire and I'm embarrassed to be a NSW cricket fan at the moment.

What if they signed Mathew Sinclair instead?

:p

Then "firstly" and "secondly" would still apply, but "lastly" wouldn't. I'd probably be happy on balance but I definitely still wouldn't agree with it as such.

Hopefully McCullum gets injured and Sinclair is used as NZ keeper. :p

Haha, what? Surely you can't be allowed to sign a player just for a final? I can see the point of letting one or two overseas players in for a whole competition, but this is just a farce. And I thought county cricket was daft...

Feel sorry for the NSW player who's basically just been told they aren't good enough. Although I guess the whole point of this is so he can play in the Champions League for them.

Pretty low act by NSW I reckon. Particularly when we're unlikely to field our own international in Darren Pattinson.

In light CA not allowing Hussey and White in for the Preliminary Final seems a tad unfair.

Can we request for Paul Reiffel to umpire this match?

How is this any different then WA and SA signing their Pakistan seamers to play 3-4 games of Twenty20. Both wont be back for FC cricket or OD cricket at present.

Anyway it likely to be Keen who gets dropped if Hughes is still injuried. He only played in the first place as Warner was playing for Australia and Hughes was injuried. It not like he was good enough in the first place.

****ing scumbags, NSW. Surely there's got to be some qualification for finals like they do in Reserve Grade rugby league so that they don't just ring in their NRL team for the final. In my club comp you have to play four games in the regular season to qualify for finals.

Surely CA could step in and prevent this from happening.
But that would stop the Australian players who haven't played, playing for their states if they were to become available.

They obv should have just picked Jason Hughes.

Pick on the Redbacks why don't ya.

Definitely in favour of internationals in general, though.
not uncommon to see people jealous of the city of churches :D

It would be great to think that similar to the IPL, state sides could each have a couple international stars each playing in the teams for the big ba$h. Would be great to go down on a weeknight to a game and see a KP, Dhoni or a Kumar playing.

Sorry, Tanvir and Gul played five games, and spent two weeks with the side. At the very least, they would've passed on experience in Twenty20 bowling.

McCullum flies in, meets the guys on the day of the game, shakes hands, plays and heads off home. Completely different.

Any fee McCullum is getting from this game is going straight to youth development in Otago. He's not earning anything for this appearance.

,"That's not Australian to me. Is that what New South Wales cricket is having to do? I am trying to understand the modern world."

This statement is a bit of a laugh considering 5 or 6 NSW players will ditch their side to go play for an Indian IPL side should they qualify.
It's a low thing to do by NSW for just the final, but if NSW loses all their top players...considering the big money on offer, it could be a smart move to keep McCullum on the side if they end up needing something extra.

Going to be a one sided final, will be an inspirational effort if Vics win without Hodge, Hussey and White.
