I think that sums up how the whole of NZ is feeling about McCullum at the moment. It is understandable why Bracewell wanted McCullum to move up to number 5 but the experiment has failed, he needs to admit it and move McCullum back to his rightful 7. For someone so talented it is a big waste.
Not really, there are others to fill the gap and at seven McCullum can bat like a nutter, but at five he can't handle the responsibility. At seven his talent might be better served.

That seems to be a big issue with NZ batsman atm; responsibility, valuing your wicket.

I don't think he'll ever be better than Gilchrist, but he can still be a damn fine player. Perhaps McCullum should try and remember where Gilly batted for the entirety of his test career.

I see, once again, Mitchell Johnson bowled 'poorly'. Can we start to put to bed the myth that he's only getting his wickets due to poor shots from the batsmen? Some of the wickets, maybe, but it really does stretch belief that he's totally out-stripping Lee and Clark for wickets of late yet they've somehow been bowling better. I'm not saying he's a genius bowler or even that he's bowling at his peak but credit where credit's due. Been the most consistent wicket-taker in the Aus bowling line-up for a while now.

The selectors picked Watto as an extra seamer for Brisbane in a nod to him being there for a little while at least, the selectors essentially telling him they can't fit him in the top-6 but rated his bowling. This now definitely sends the message that they don't rate either his batting or bowling right now which, on form, is right but geez if I was Watto, I'd be very confused right now about whether the selectors ever did rate him at all. If the perception was that he bowled well in India, I'd have thought he'd be backed for another Test, particularly since they've gone and just picked another seamer (if they'd dropped him for Krejza, that'd be a bit more understandable).

Sucks for him but, for mine, he desperately needs runs for QLD to put the pressure on Symonds. Hopefully they don't do an Andy Bichel and make him a recurring 12th for the summer, ensuring he barely gets on the park. The selectors are sure doing their best to lose some friends.

Hey Casson, what are the odds on Watto getting frustrated with lack of selection in the next couple of years and, before hitting 30, throwing in his lot with IPL instead to make some coin? :D

it so frustrating how every single kiwi fan on here thinks that McCullam should be at 7 but the 3 most important peoplcant realise that. McCullam needs to get over himslef a bit and start making some ****ing runs.

more bad news, Jacob Oram is horribly out of form. I just spoke to my cousin who captains his grade team in Palmy North and he made a subdued 23.

Yeah agreed, but the fact Siddle's somehow leapfrogged Bollinger and Noffers is really grinding my gears.
They probably want Bollinger actually bowling for a while.

What's Noffke's story? Still injured?

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

I'm really looking forward to the second test, and I'm hopeful for Southee to dominate once more.

I gotta say R Taylor's my fav batsman out of NZ, he picks gaps out well.

Disappointed that he got out in the first innings and that Martin got out in the 2nd. Hopefully he can back up what he does with the ball, with bat too.

It remains to be seen with the bat, but his glovework is miles better than Gilchrists ever was.
Harsh on Gilly, one feels. Especially early days, took every screamer to come his way and stole a few difficult stumpings Healy would have been proud of.
