Scored the goal when we lost in Russia IIRC

Carson's the next David James for me; has all the materials but his decision making is toilet & is prone to the high-profile eff up from time-to-time. It's not coincidence that he's playing for Stoke now; O'Neill preferring a 70-year-old yank to you isn't a glowing recommendation for your prospects.

Foster I do rate v highly. Saw him in the flesh at New Highbury when on loan at Watford. We won 3-0, but could've been seven or eight if not for him. Just hope he stays fit & gets a good run in the team somewhere.
Carson's playing at WBA, I think you'll find :p

On this occasion I was only joking, Muamba imo is not crap, but neither is he particularly special.
I suppose if he was (special), he would still be playing for Arsenal.

Speaking of goal keepers, whatever happened to Nicky Weaver?

Exactly, at the very least he would be playing for a side who are expected to finish in the top half of the table.

This isn't just any 70-year old Yank though.

How's about Robert Greene? He seems to have some incredible matches at times.

O'Neill didn't want to shell out the 9mil Liverpool were asking for. WBA came along later in the summer and got him for 3mil (or thereabouts).

Wiki says Charlton Athletic. Good enough for me.

Speaking of FM, I read in 4-4-2 a few years ago that one of Chelsea's chief scouts at the time used FM to scout out players
It's not the worst idea, obviously you can't sign them using just FM, you need to scout them properly as well, but the database is so huge that it's not a bad tool for assessing potential players to scout.

TBH

Not liking the looks of Fellaini tbt, maybe he'll grow on me. Castillo looks good though. Think a midfield pairing of Castillo and Cahill is the way to go with Arteta on the left and Pienaar/Osman on the right. But obviously with those two out at the mo we're really lacking options. Realistically we have one fit winger and he's more likely to be found popping up on the opposite wing or hopefully just trying to get involved as much as possible. That's why I like Baines playing at left back with Yobo and Lescott in the middle. Baines offers so much in attack compared to Jol and Neville is reasonably adept at getting forward too and we really need to have attacking fullbacks or we have no width. Castillo and Fellaini were both so hesitant to get forward at all against Stoke and Yakubu and Anichebe looked very isolated any time Arteta was the one doing the supplying.

Honestly though we really just look so stretched. Full strength squad we'll be there or there abouts but we seriously need some cover. Saha and Yabuku looks a good pairing but take out Saha and Anichebe/Vaughan with the Yak suddenly doesn't look so flash. The younger two are fairly good value but they're nowhere near the finished product. I'm a big Jagielka fan but I just can't find a spot in the team for him at all because he's too similar to our other options, but not quite as good. Would be great if Van Der Meyde decided to give up drinking, refrain from getting injured every 2nd day and not get sent off on every occasion he's just recovered from an injury. I just can't comprehend the fact that we didn't manage (or even attempt) to sign any wingers at all. I was really excited by the prospect of Joao Moutinho but I'm really not that surprised he wasn't keen to come to England. We would have stuck him out on the right hand side because of Moyes' hesitancy to play creative players in central areas (although this is a very common theme throughout England) and said try and play the Everton style. Just wouldn't have worked. What we needed was a real out and out winger who'll get to the line and deliver crosses because Pienaar's really the only player of that ilk, although even he was a 'Moyes 'convert' because I'm fairly sure he usually played a far more central role.

Moyes has stuck his hand up for the poor transfer dealings but I'm not going to give him too much sympathy unless we start producing clean sheets because I can't see us scoring too many for atleast another 2-3 weeks or so when Pienaar and Saha get back.

In other news, Leeds looking pretty good again. Hopefully manage promotion this season.

Mediocre spurs losing at home to Villa, would be perfectly happy for this to end right now tbh, don't care if it would have adverse effects on my fantasy team.

Interesting, all this talk of goal-keeping, and the spurs 'keeper lets in a howler.

Tottenham look toilet anyway, though.

Tottenham in another season of being ****e shocker. Had a discussion in work today, consensus was that they are the second biggest joke in the Premiership, after Newcastle

Would say that is a fair assessment tbh. Though I'm not really surprised at their current state, they have sold their two leading strikers over the summer, and not really bought any decent replacements whatsoever. Their midfield has absolutely no bite to it, and is full of pap players like Jenas and Huddlestone who offer a little of everything and a lot of nothing. And they seem to have sold one duff keeper and replaced him with another who is equally incompetent.
