Always thought Stuart Taylor looked like he was a pretty solid up and coming Keeper tbh, but since leaving Arsenal he has done absolute bugger all and his time is now almost certainly passed. Similar could be said of Richard Wright, but then he was crap whilst at Arsenal and has been ****e ever since, so he's well out of the picture as well.

Yeah, ended up back at Ipswich didn't he?

Nicky Weaver is another, isn't he? Back in 98 everyone thought that it was pretty safe that Wright, Simonsen & Weaver would be the three keepers for the 06 WC

No idea where he ended up tbh, just remember a series of hideous events in his one season at Arsenal where he punched the ball into his own net and made a serious of other high profile costly errors, went into meltdown and was dropped, dire.

If Kirkland could do up his boots without picking up an injury then I'd back him, but the fact that he is hardly ever 100% fit means that he cannot really be considered a long term option.

Robinson is similar to Richard Wright imo, showed initial considerable promise, but has since totally lost his bottle and all form and often looks like a complete clown, would rather not see play for England ever again.

Robert Green, can't forget his hilarious injury suffered in a friendly in the lead up to WC06, but regardless of that I don't think he's international material. Strikes me as the kind of keeper who masks a lot of stupid errors by making a lot of decent looking saves which come from playing behind a crap defence. Plus he has the face of a scarecrow, do not rate.

Nicky Weaver - the one time Man City got a player from us instead of the other way around.

Carson's not rubbish. Hart's the 'take them to the WC, will do him some good' guy.
Carson emphatically is rubbish, he's made some serious errors for everyone he has played for since Liverpool (other than at Wednesday, where I did not watch him). Don't remember his time at Leeds tbf.

Villa, only remember one mistake last season, although there's a possibility it was Stuart Taylor in goal that game. I'll have watched more Villa games than you did, was dragged to the pub by a mate/Villa supporter. First time i saw Carson this season was on Saturday and he did well.

You being a Man Utd will be bigging up Foster as the next great hope, but letting in a goal by another keeper is an absolute shocker all round. Kusczack (sp, don't care hugely) let in a goal from a goal kick ffs, Man Utd have the worst keepers.

It's an irrelevant point, although I won't deny it (Foster is however a prospect, if not the next great hope).

Carson made more than one error last season, also made a huge one pre-season for Liverpool as well that was every bit as bad as Foster's.

Foster is obviously better than Carson, surprised that anyone would dispute this tbh. Worth bearing in mind that Carson didn't have any professional coaching till he was about 20 iirc, so it is to his credit that he is able to play at the level he is, but for me personally it is obvious he is not up to the job. He only made a handful of appearances for Leeds iirc, but I remember his first start (which happened to be against Man Utd) in which he made a pretty poor if somewhat typical mistake.

He's good, just clinically underrated for that goal against Croatia, which wasn't hugely his fault.

Then why not buy a young full back and groom in that role when Gary Neville is meant to come back from his various injuries.
We did, he's being loaned out to Blackburn at the moment though. Got some young Brazilian chap who plays there and seems good enough for the odd game, though, so it may be that we get him playing.

Personally wish Neville would just retire already, as harsh as that might be. Don't think he has the legs in him anymore to be much more than a waste of valuable experience-gaining time for the younger options.

EDIT: And yeah, had Arteta and Yakubu for some time now (possibly since the start, now that I think about it) and they've bagged me many points, even while the rest of Everton seem to be failing.
Well yes, I would have signed a new right back, either that or not loaned Simpson out (who along with Evans is probably the first real prospect we've had out of our academy in a while, and IMO could cut it).
As Towns pointed out there're two young rightbacks in line for the position. Rafel da Silva and Danny Simpson, on loan at Blackburn. Don't think the latter's gotten a game yet. will have to check. Simpson has been solid when I've seen him. Only seen a bit of Rafael and he looks exciting along with his brother Fabio who plays on the left. Neville's still got a couple years in him though I think. Being out for that long at his age it'll take hima few games to get up to speed so I'd judge how up to it he is later on in the season. No new right back needed for now. SAF will probably be only in the market for a winger next time as Lee Martin being loaned out when the club was short of first team quality wingers doesn't bode well for his future.

That's massively premature.

I only watched the first half admittedly, but we were very good until then.

What we need is a new goalkeeper, as I've been saying for ages, VDS simply cannot be relied upon.

****ing gutted, but we'll a) beat them at OT, and b) finish above them still.
This'll probably be his last season anyway. Smartest guy in the squad though apparently.
Chelsea were top draw again today fancy them, strongly, to win next week especially as they will probably have Drogba back against a Vidicless Utd. Reckon they will get Terry's red card repealed even if they don't Alex is decent replacement.

Also last season didn't u fluke that lucky win against Spurs in the 4th game then Ronaldo came back & the rest is history, any news on Ronaldo's return?
Everyone flukes wins so irrelevant point. Ronaldo'll be back to counter Drogba and Brown's capable enough to step in. Not so sure he'll start Evans but who knows....
Well, according to Fergie he's fit and could have travelled today, not sure whether that was just a smokescreen though.
Nah, reckon he's fit. Saw pics of him training. Was running and jumping. Will at the least be on the bench against Villareal.

Tbh I would agree with you there, I fully sympathise with him in this regard, as it was clear to pretty much everyone that he shouldn't be playing before the match even kicked off (that said it was still a bad error - just not as bad as perhaps made out). But I don't really credit my not rating him down to this, though obviously it doesn't exactly weaken my argument.

That'll be the Drogba fella who's played about 30minutes this season...

another good win this weekend, apparently Franchise FC were decent enough. Crossley saved a penalty and the murderer scored our first.

Taking on Chalky's lot next at their gaffe, how they looking this season?

Don't think he'd scored a competitive goal since Euro 2004 cbf to look it up though, maybe someone else can confirm or deny this allegation
Scored the goal when we lost in Russia IIRC

Carson's the next David James for me; has all the materials but his decision making is toilet & is prone to the high-profile eff up from time-to-time. It's not coincidence that he's playing for Stoke now; O'Neill preferring a 70-year-old yank to you isn't a glowing recommendation for your prospects.

Foster I do rate v highly. Saw him in the flesh at New Highbury when on loan at Watford. We won 3-0, but could've been seven or eight if not for him. Just hope he stays fit & gets a good run in the team somewhere.
