Haha I did think of Louis Saha, but then is he is as good as Rooney, Tevez, Drogba, Anelka, Adebayor? He might be, I don't know

At the end of the day, Keane > Crouch. Liverpool have done alright.
Dont agree with that and, IMO, Keene is a poor signing. But cant be bothered arguing. Its obvious Crouch isnt rated by a lot of people.

Its not that Keene is a bad player (he isnt) but he isnt worth over 18 million pounds and he isnt the type of player top clubs should be investing in.

If Liverpool had picked him up on a free, I wouldnt be too upset (I wouldnt be excited) but at this price it is a joke.

Frazier Campbell > Robbie Keane

*runs and hides*

Another interesting buy, a decent backup forward for mine at big club. But not really a top quality frontline forward. I do rate Keane though as player, but not 18 million and not a first choice forward at big club.

If I was Daniel Levy I would of been laughing all the way to the bank. That sort of money would probably would of got you either Eto'o or Villa. And where did this price tag come from? I mean Keane isn't English, so it is not as though his value increases because of it.

I very much doubt any team will be getting Eto'o or Villa for anything under 30m.
Well you may as well pay the extra cash on somebody worth it, rather than waste 20 million on an above average player that isnt better than anything you already have.

20 million on Keane isnt leading Liverpool to a title anytime soon.

Interested as to why you think he's better than Crouch. It is an argument that definitely has its merits so I'd love to hear your side :)

I certainly can't argue the point as well as others, but imo it boils down to how well either player can assist Torres, and I think Keane will be much more suited to playing alongsige Torres than a Crouch. I suspect RK will sit in behind Torres, much in the same way Gerrard was doing from time to time last season, running ahead of the midfield with the wingers. It strengthens the midfield, and gives Rafa another option he previously didn't have with Crouch.

Aside from that, I think Keane has a better claim to being an established Premier League goal scorer than Crouch, with the latter only once passing double figures in a PL season, compared to 7 times for Keane.

Agree with much of this. The signing is totally based on a partnership with Torres, if they click it's a brilliant signing, if not it's a waste of money. Simple as, really. Unlike other signings mentioned there's no need to adjust to the prem, either. Which most agree is a totally different style (if not quality) then other leagues on the continent. If he helps Torres better his goalscoring tally of last year and scores twenty himself, that could help them to silverware.

The fee is probably nonsense anyway, Spurs don't want to be seen to let a fan's fave go cheap, and Liverpool want to look like they're making a big signing, doubtit's much over 10 mil, tbh.

Anyway far more important then Torres/Keane link-up, how will Marcus Stewart and Richard Logan dove-tail, this is what worries me....

Actually, if you're only counting the times that they're actually fit, I'd say Saha is better than a lot of the top strikers around. I did the maths a while back to figure out how many goals are scored per minutes played and he came out better than a bunch of the better PL strikers.

But, of course, "If Saha is fit" is a really big "if".

I like to think I'd get a few in the net if I had Ronaldo, Rooney, Scholes etc giving me service. If you want to find out who the best strikers are, stick them in the Tranmere side when Shuker is injured (I say when he's injured, because he is actually better than Ronaldo tbf) and see if they make double figures for the season.

Keane has always looked a better striker than Saha, who was signed by Ferguson on the back of a decent run at Fulham, and was obviously never backed to be his number one striker, hence signings like Smith, Tevez etc

Most United fans (going by the forums I post at) agree that if Saha was always fit they'd have him in the first team alongside Rooney with Tevez being the backup. Saha scores goals, simple as that really. Scores a goal every other game, if not more often. People write him off because they rarely see him get a lot of goals because he's rarely fit. Which is the real reason why Keane is the better choice overall, because there's little point in being the better striker if you're not on the pitch.

And what are you talking about? Ronaldo doesn't give you service! ;)
