Didn't realise this match was on and was watching the Stanford Twenty20 tournament. Didn't miss much here from the looks of it as I look at the scorecard. No one watching?
Wow, I don't even know where to begin with whats wrong right here. But yeah, will keep it short:Dmirtri in for Anderson.
Haha, why? Mascarenhas should be in the first choice XI all the time, unless he's peforming poorly. Considering what he did in the Twenty20 games, I'm amazed he's being ignored yet again. He should be in the side, and who to drop? Sidebottom? Not likely. Swann? Has done pretty well so far in his career. Broad? Bowled excellently in the game tonight, and is better than Anderson. Pretty obvious who needs to make way for Dimitri.Wow, I don't even know where to begin with whats wrong right here. But yeah, will keep it short:
Worst call.
If anyone makes way it is Bopara. Otherwise we go into a game with two proper fast bowlers.Haha, why? Mascarenhas should be in the first choice XI all the time, unless he's peforming poorly. Didn't think it was that bad TBH, and I'm disappointed I didn't get the opportunity to see Flynn bat. Also, it's hardly based on one game. He's got 366 runs this year at an average of over 60, two centuries and striking at more than a run a ball. His List A career makes for pretty good reading too, compared to other potential Black Caps. Since it was for the one game, I thik the selectors would rather have had the guy that was in form. Not to mention that Hay isn't the quickest batsman going around.Absolutely ludicrous selection. He's basically been selected one game, just because it so happened to be a few days ago. It remids me of when Alex Wharf was selected for England based on taking 6/5 or something equally ridiculous in one game. despite doing little else of note in his career.
If you're going to pick a player with limited experience based on potential, at least pick a player with limited experience based on potential who has had a good and consistent start to his career. Why Flynn and not Hay?
Was referring to the fact that Anderson has been England's best ODI bowler for quite a while now, and that their roles are somewhat different in the side, and that Bopara, and to a lesser extent Broad, would be the ones you would look to drop first.Haha, why?
At the start of his career Anderson bowled really well, but from 2004-2007 he was pretty poor. On the surface of it, Anderson had a good year in 2007, 39 wickets at 29.61 with an economy of 4.69. Take away the minnow-bashing he did, and you're left with this. Was referring to the fact that Anderson has been England's best ODI bowler for quite a while now, and that their roles are somewhat different in the side, and that Bopara, and to a lesser extent Broad, would be the ones you would look to drop first.
Broad has bowled well on this tour, yes. Not denying he has a future or talent but Anderson should be England's #1 choice on paper on the fact he has experience backed up by performances. Broad could very well replace him in the future, but right now Andersons is Englands best ODI bowler. At the start of his career Anderson bowled really well, but from 2004-2007 he was pretty poor. Personally I don't think Bopara is doing anything in the side. Is there any real point selecting a specialist batsman at #7? Sure, he may be able to score a good 30* when England collapse around him, but is he actually helping the side? Would rather have Mascarenhas at #7, but he's been troubled by pace in the past. In regards to the initial comment, I thought gettingbetter was wanting to replace a bowler with a bowler. Still, I'd rather have Broad in the ODI side at the moment than Anderson. As with above, Anderson's 2007 wasn't as good as most seem to think, while Broad's was marginally better. Combine that with the fact that Broad has outbowled Anderson on the tour and offers more with the bat.
