Would England have won the 2005 Ashes without ball tampering?

It took a specific request from SA to their TV crew follow the ball around the fielders as they suspected something was up. I somehow doubt such a request would be tolerated by an England team in Aus.

Do you honestly think they would have gotten away with it consistently with 50 cameras?
Ah like that other time they blatantly cheated when all 50 cameras were trained on them during the ‘brainfade’ incident, which was also a repeat incident only caught thanks to the King. Who knows how many games or years it had been going on.

But yes, poor things it was their first time and the bowlers obviously weren’t clued in. It was probably very high grit sandpaper since they didn’t notice that the ball was scuffed on one side.

The young newbie in the side and crooked Warner did it all on their own for sure. Not one other person had a clue imo.

You're not familiar with the behind the scenes of the 2018 tour of South Africa. There was a lot going on leading up to that

That's not an excuse btw, but if you think the things happening in that game they were caught were the same in games prior you're being deliberately ignorant

They were probably doing other ****, as every team were, but they weren't using sandpaper (which didn't even work anyway so there's that)

Sad to see do many people in here defending the indefensible - I E.: the English cricket team and it's people.

It's not limited to one team. I have seen responses on CW defending ball-tamperers from many nations.

"indefensible"? Yes
Exclusive to "the English cricket team and it's (sic) people"? No

Ah yes when I think of the Test matches England won in 2005, "comfortable" definitely comes to mind.
Ironically, (and it's become a thing on the last 2 Tours as well), England were rather more comfortably winning the two draws.

Rain saving Aus in England has become rather a sad and regular pattern in the last 20 years, and yet they still can't win a series.

So I thought for a moment of replying seriously to this post then I was overcome by a deep, profound sense of self-loathing that I even opened this thread at all.

Which player had the best underwear for concealing sandpaper.
