will you guys please take your Tendulkar debate and shove it somewhere else!!!!

The Jones/Gilchrist debate never got off the ground. Anyway, you should realise that all debates eventually end up discussing Tendulkar, Harmison or <insert name here>.

It's the cricketing equivalent of Godwin's Law.

You got something interesting to add to this thread? It's got nothing so far and it needs your outstanding input.

I meant no-one has anything more to say about Geraint Jones. So what's the big deal discussing something else?

jones contribute more byes to NZ
You just can't win with some people.
Here you go. 2 byes in the day...

82.1 Saggers to Astle, bye: two runs, well down the legside, Jones dives
towards his left and unable to stop it peoperly

If I remember rightly, it was an absolute full-length dive and saved two rather than cost two.

its not first time he is conceding byes and the ball went under his gloves he could have well saved it

he is not a good KEEPER compared to Read but is v.good batsmen compared
to read.its like taking the risk that india has been taking for last 1.5 years with dravid. it will be good as long as jones does not miss any crucial chance

Im sure he will, and everyone will be moaning about Read not being treated better...

Im a firm believer that if he averages 40 instead of Read's 20 in every innings, the odd drop will be worth it...

In which case he's well on the way to becoming the new Gilchrist, then, because he is also a (relatively) poor keeper but a superb batsman.
There you go - got the thread back on topic for you again.

You obviously are "watching" the game on Cricinfo. It was a rank ball from a rank bowler!

i dont think anyone said boucher was useless last year when he was contributing to the byes and dropping catches....give him a chance he might not be the best keeper around now but he is only going to improve, remember stewart became a much better keeper towards the end of his career.
as far as the comparison to dravid goes, one must remember that geraint jones does keep for his county unlike dravid so he is a regular keeper and is more likely to get better.

haha i just want to gloat and say how right i was for saying that jones is better... ive got nothing against read of course, but jones batting is far superior and he can catch a ball or two, in fact one of the catches he took in the 2nd test was an absolute blinder
