Ok let's agree to agree.(I put Shakib above Kohli, you should be agreeing with me)

Because tendulkar hardly played odis in sena he didn't play in aus until 99 after impressing in 91/92 and played only once in eng in 90s if he played as much as modern indian team would have got to 20k runsI think main weakness of Sachin's odi record is his not-so-good record outside asia in 1990s(barring few tournaments like 1992 tri series),also i am not so sure, but he was probably not that good against South Africa in 1990s
They tried to shift gears but by then the pitch was too tough and Australia bowling very well. Rohit had the momentum and he threw it away. I certainly don't think Rohit should be anyways near Kohli in 23. Though I will say, Sachin 96 was better.Might be. But conversely if Rohit didn't attack in the beginning we probably don't even get to 240. Also, if Kohli and KL tried to play a bit faster we probably get more too.
But viv didnt play in 92Sachin 96

Don't say "Thanks". Say "I apologize for being too stupid".*79. Thanks
Top order bats will always have a bigger impact in terms of scoring a greater proportion of runs. That's just how the game is structured. But you also need people to bat lower. Quality players usually bat according to where they can balance a team best. A Viv/AB isn't batting 4ish because they aren't good enough to open. It's cos the decrease in expected runs from them coming in lower is less than the drop from having a worse opener and a much worse middle order bat.Yeah but the ones who bat higher in the order also have a higher impact in ODIs imo. There is a reason most top batsman play in the top order in white ball cricket, its because the more balls you get the higher impact you can have and you want your best batsmen to play there. People debate Rohit vs Dhoni in ODIs but imo the impact Rohit has had since he has started to open makes him the better bat.
Now, as far as team strength goes, yes I could lower the weights for those metrics a bit but they also show how much support a guy has, and how relatively easy the batting conditions were. For example in Kohli's case, every top 5 bat was playing at a faster strike rate than him which was allowing Kohli to just accumulate runs. In most great campaigns, the best batsmen not only score a high % of the team's runs but also score it at a faster rate than the team, which requires a higher skill level, while Kohli was 11% slower, which is very high relatively. Hence, I don't rate the campaign as high as others do.
Kohli 23 is nothing special, better than Dravid 99 thoughSachin 96

Dilshan scored 500 runs in the 2011 wc.500+ run wc campaigns:
2023: 7 (De Kock, Iyer, Kohli, Mitchell, Ravindra, Rohit, Warner)
2019: 7 (Bairstow, Finch, Rohit, Root, Shakib, Warner, Williamson)
2015: 2 (Guptill, Sangakkara)
2011: 0
2007: 3 (Hayden, Jayawardene, Ponting)
2003 : 1 (Tendulkar)
1999: 0
1996: 1 (Tendulkar)
1992: 0
1987: 0
1983: 0
1979: 0
1975: 0
I filtered it as 500+ so the 500 one didn't get counted actuallyDilshan scored 500 runs in the 2011 wc.
I mean, it's also largely because the no of games have increased significantly in the last two WCs500+ run wc campaigns:
2023: 7 (De Kock, Iyer, Kohli, Mitchell, Ravindra, Rohit, Warner)
2019: 7 (Bairstow, Finch, Rohit, Root, Shakib, Warner, Williamson)
2015: 2 (Guptill, Sangakkara)
2011: 0
2007: 3 (Hayden, Jayawardene, Ponting)
2003 : 1 (Tendulkar)

1996: 1 (Tendulkar)
1992: 0
1987: 0
1983: 0
1979: 0
1975: 0
Not really so. The 99, 03 and 07 wcs still had the same no of games as the last 2I mean, it's also largely because the no of games have increased significantly in the last two WCs
There were also a fair few bowlers doing exceptionally well as well. Most of all, Shami's 2023 campaign is only comparable to Starc 2015.View attachment 44599
Also, we need to take into account just how much more batting friendly the last 2 wcs have been, especially the 2023 one, many batsmen going big at exceptionally high SRs due to flat pitches
That I agree with, especially Shami. There were some other decent ones too like Bumrah etcThere were also a fair few bowlers doing exceptionally well as well. Most of all, Shami's 2023 campaign is only comparable to Starc 2015.
