Why on earth will an Aussie team that's now clearly over the hill
You don’t get to call anyone else’s side over the hill when your attack requires Zimmer frames.

Home and hosed. 4-0 Aus. Won’t raise a sweat doing it.

Forgetting the ifs and buts the last 2 series in England it's 5-4 to England with one draw. Everyone knows it could have so easily been the other way.
There's nothing between the teams in English conditions, and the good thing is that it's already the most anticipated Ashes series that I can ever recall.

It was a whitewash half an hour ago. Now you’ve already reined that in.

By teatime (GMT) you’ll be saying ‘it’ll probably be a draw but that means we keep the Ashes. Home and hosed.’

I think England will stick with the aggressive approach even after we whitewash them. Tbh they haven’t the temperament or technique to survive at test level against decent bowlers, so they may as well have a mindless slog. It’s all they know.
Mm they’ll stick with it til McCullum leaves or Stokes isn’t captain, or both, no matter their future results I reckon.

At least those zimmer frames were fit enough to turn up to their current series. Meanwhile we have Wood and Archer warming up in an ODI series......spoilt for choice really.

Why? Aus has got a better side now than they did then.

Player for player they’re just a better outfit. It won’t be close. Khawaja, Whoever and Marnus **** on England’s top three. Smith is better than Root, Brook and Head will be a good battle between a couple of relative n00bs, especially given Brook has basically not faced anyone close to what Aus will dish up. Stokes is better than Green with the bat but Green is better than him with the ball.

Carey is as good as Foakes.

Cummins is better than everyone, Lyon is better than Leach and the balance of the Aus attack doesn’t need Zimmer frames to run in and bowl.

No attack bowls better on roads than Aus, and their batting is also suited to them. If they prepare seaming decks, Aus will chew up the England line up - Root and Stokes aside they don’t have the technique to cope with actual fast bowling which is doing a bit. They’ve feasted on half rat power attacks on roads. They’ll go at five an over and be routed for about 120 while they do it.

Seriously, this will not be close. It’ll be at worst 3-0 to Aus and I look forward to celebrating the inevitable triumph with a cigar and a cognac in the Connoisseur Room on the Silver Spirit somewhere along the Dalmatian Coast.
Your front foot game is better than Khawaja's. I agree that Australia have the better flat pitch team on paper though. Would have won 4-0 in 2019 on flat pitches. England need to keep Australia's weakness against lateral movement in the game.

Shouldn't be too hard to sort out - see SA series last summer.

Agreed. But if they do that they keep their own weakness to it in the game. That’s the conundrum for them because their line up has more ftbs in it than even Australia’s

I’m not reining it in, I’ve rained it in

The series won’t be close. Aus simply has a better side this Ashes cycle than England.

That crushing was the last time England won a test here wasn’t it? Not a series, a test.

Not one since. Nada. Zip. Takes some front to have a **** at the away record of a team which drew in the Dreary Isles last time out when your own team hasn’t troubled the away series score keepers for 12 years and counting.

There will be kids starting high school this year who haven’t seen England win a test in australia in their life time.

Never mind a series, not one single test.
Mate you keep going on about our away record in Australia which has absolutely no relevance to the upcoming series.

If this series was Down Under, you'd be massive favourites but it isn't.

You know perfectly well that you haven't won a series over here since 2001 and we've had some seriously piss poor sides since then but we've won 12 tests to your 6.

The more you go into full Glen McGrath mode with your outlandish predictions of an upcoming demolition, the more worried you obviously are.

Anyway shouldn't you be in the India/Aus thread trying to work out how your boys are going to avoid another humiliating defeat in India.

I'm not being outlandish. I haven't felt this bullish about an away Ashes series in well over a decade. It's a really, really good match up for this Aus side compared with even four years ago.

As for the current series, I readily predicted Aus would lose handily in India well before it kicked off. They're two very different match ups in two very different sets of conditions.

Well we'll see this summer but this is the most confident I've been for many a year.

We're so full of confidence and home advantage is massive in any test series.

So many of your batsmen have yet to show that can play the moving ball and in our conditions we have plenty of bowlers who will exploit that. Players like Khawaja, Head, Green, Warner won't be technically good enough to cope.

Our batting has its weaknesses as well but we we still have more in the locker with Root, Stokes, Bairstow and Brook.

Both sides have good seam attacks and there's not much to.seperate Leach and Lyon.

I'm going 3-1 England

Head has scored like three hundreds or close to on raging greentops in the last 18 months

but all of that doesn’t matter because he didn’t turn up for some county matches
To be fair, he didn't open for Sussex so wasn't really exposed to the new ball. Averaged 18 with a best of 49 not out which did wonders for that average!! Obviously, if he does replace Warner at the top, he'll be fine coz he got some runs in Australia in the middle order.
