Kind of sounded like Williamson might be closer to the end than we thought too.On Sky Sport (UK) podcast. Simon Doull was on as the guest, and he mentioned that he had 'first hand knowledge' that for the next blackcaps coach (when Stead's contract expires in 6 months) that the NZC cheque book will be out and they are prepared to pay significantly more, and are wanting a top-notch / high profile candidate.
I had thought he'd really want to try for that elusive WC in 2027 but yeah can see the Aus series maybe being his lastKind of sounded like Williamson might be closer to the end than we thought too.
Have already been doing this for a few years tbh lolCall me a pessimist
Doull says a lot sometimes. Williamson will be in Australia come 26-27.Kind of sounded like Williamson might be closer to the end than we thought too.
he should really aim for that 27 wc....kane in odis is still world class against anyone anywhere any tournamentI had thought he'd really want to try for that elusive WC in 2027 but yeah can see the Aus series maybe being his last
Sorry, good vibesFine I'll do it
Would be a good option for bowling coach, but not sure about the national gig.I think NZ should get Andre Adams
I think I've said this before, but I'm not particularly thrilled with a 36yo Williamson (who may or may not be past it) headlining a NZ team where half the squad is 34 or older. We're either hoping he's not washed in 2 years or hoping whoever succeeds him hits the ground running.Doull says a lot sometimes. Williamson will be in Australia come 26-27.
This is really intriguing. On Sky Sport (UK) podcast.
This is 100% spot on. Coaching cricket isn't an exercise in superior tactics or even technique if you're the head coach (you get good specialist coaches for this). It's man management, environment, expectations, standards, some tactics, identifying talent and being patient/daring enough to back it...it's being a strong person as much as anything.Coaching is a vibes gig. It's not about the name, it's about someone who has
a) A clear vision for what they want to do with the team which is compatible with the resources available
b) The communication, organisational, and man-management skills to make that happen
We need someone who fits the realistic composition of the team over the next five years, which is going to be a lot of young guys, particularly on the bowling front.
Yup, we should. Andre is a quality person and knows technique in and out. Really, really good mentor who players respond to.I think NZ should get Andre Adams
