Thanks for bumping the thread Bijed.

A century-less tournament for Kohli and a terrific tournament for Root means the gap between the top 2 ODI batsmen has significantly narrowed IMO.
Root's averaged ~13 more runs at a very similar strike rate too.

Rohit and Kohli are the top 2 ODI batsmen, and yep the gap has definitely narrowed.

Let's wait for the next WC in India to really settle things.

Not taking the troll only WC knockouts position. They both have similar CT records too. And now Root has ran ahead in this WC. So yeah, not as big a gap as the raw stats suggest.

Inb4 Taylor fans.

You're right though. It's not Kohli and a whole bunch of significantly inferior ODI bats anymore. It's now Kohli, Rohit, Root and Taylor.

In terms of quality, entertainment and variety, the ODI format is in the best state it's ever been in.

Australia should bring back the mid-year Test matches they used to play for a few years in the mid-00s.

There are a lot of classy ODI batsmen around ATM - Root, Rohit, Babar, Taylor, Buttler, Roy, Bairstow, Williamson etc. but Kohli's numbers are just ridiculous. Averaging 60 is unbelievable stuff.

Yeah Sehwag wasn't that great in limited overs that we should discuss his natural succesor

Sehwag was definitely an influential player in ODIs, but none more so than Gayle, Dilshan and a handful of others

Was thinking about names and numbers on shirts.

Why is it necessary to have both name and number on a shirt ?

Why not just the name.?

The numbers are meaningless.

If the numbers worn were in batting order it might be useful.

ross taylor, formerly the 2nd best odi batsman in the world, surpassed kohli by actually scoring some clutch runs in a knockout game

Is there some way a broadcaster could have two levels of commentary for a game.

The C9 type one for the casual watcher and another one for the keen follower of the game where knowledgable people actually discuss the game.

Finger spin is the best form of bowling
Attritional cricket on slow dead pitches is entertaining
The Nagpur wicket wasn't that bad
Performances against minnows, on flat decks, and playing at home should all be considered just as important
Gavaskar isn't a racist
Kohli should bat at 4 in ODIs
Some women could complete in top level mens cricket
The best policy to deal with bowlers who chuck is to just ban any bowler that looks dodgy, regardless of what testing shows
On that note - the ICC testing for chucking lacks transparency and that's a problem

Still agree with basically all of this tbh
