Zaheer Abbas was useful.By SR criterion, there were zero good ODI batsman in the world apart from Viv before 00s.
Smithy and L Cairns could finish.

Mods please infract Trundler for this personal attack on ODI cricket. What if in 5 years 450 becomes the norm and Buttler's SR becomes just okay in hindsight
SR of 85.. Shameful.Zaheer Abbas was useful.

Being a trundler, I'm most pained by the direction ODI cricket is headed in.Mods please infract Trundler for this personal attack on ODI cricket.
Him and Greg Chappell, probably yeah but he may have SparxZaheer Abbas 62 ODI matches in those dayz would pass any selective criteria for inclusion in a performance study.
In fact, it is very likely that had he played today, his numbers would match those past performances, if not exceed them.
True.I'll start:
Jacques Kallis is immensely overrated as an all-rounder. He isn't one like Sobers, Miller and Khan. He's more of a batsman that can bowl a bit, albeit clearly better than anyone else of the same class i.e S Waugh. Kumble isn't an all-rounder and he isn't either. I also think bowling all rounders tend to get underrated. Easier to average 30 and 54 bowling 20 overs per game than 39 and 22 or 40 and 25.
But hAve we seen the best of Willey and Ball?On here, cricketweb?
This usually raises some heckles,
- Mark Wood is actually great, but his international career has been hindered through injury. International fans have truly not seen the best of Wood.
Willey is just a twenty20 guy now. I have seen some good performances by Ball but he is a bit of a dibbly dobbler. But hAve we seen the best of Willey and Ball?
You know he was adjudged ICC ODI cricketer of the year for 2 years back to back. He was hugging #1 ODI batsman ranking for best part of 2 years somewhere around 2007 to 2008. Not even a top order batsman has done that (may be Kohli/DeVilliers have more recently, haven't checked). For a lower order batsman to do that shows his quality and consistency. He has also had a superb acumen for limited over batting which is a somewhat underappreciated talent.Partially. He was ok for some years. I just consider him to have been over-rated and quite average due to his strike rate. He's not bad obviously.
Mixing cause and effect. I think I have done an essay on this before.
Even if you havn't - do you really want to see more J Ball? But hAve we seen the best of Willey and Ball?
Ahhh, the ol' Tendulkar or Kohli, you can only pick oneQuestion for buttler fans
Who is better ODI opener ?
Rohit sharma or Gilchrist. Take ur time.
