If you just look at the anyway sentence, maybe, but to me it reads like someone who thinks we don’t play anywhere near enough of it.
It depends what he was asked I guess. The word 'anyway' kind of read to me like he was asked something like 'So things aren't looking good, huh?' and he said 'Well no-one cares about this format anymore anyway lol'

If he was asked about the future of it and gave his honest opinion, totally fair enough. But I don't think he'd have used the word anyway if that was the case. Maybe reading too much into it.

This gives better context imo

Fun fact. If BAN beat SA today and NED beat AUS tomorrow, the loser of SL vs ENG will be the one team on 2 points while six teams will be on 4 points fighting for 4th by NRR

closest margins to date
runs
38 runs - HOL vs SAF
69 runs - AFG vs ENG

wkts
4 wkts - IND vs NZL
5 wkts - SRL vs HOL, AUS vs SRL

not exactly tight and tense finishes, India win would have been 5 wkts but for Kohli landmark but NRR matters more than margin. Certainly have been surprisingly few tight finishes considering there are now three upsets, two providing the lowers runs margins

Now to climb the ladder to the semi finals.

We can still retain this trophy.

Onward and upward.

So have we had any close games this world cup besides the Ind-NZ one?

Does Pak-Afg count despite it being a comfortable 8 wicket win?

The infographic that someone posted looked at >10-ball chases and less than 30 run (?) wins...and there's only been one, which was the Afghanistan one, which as you say isn't really that close. India NZ was with two overs to go, not really that close.

There really hasn't been a single game anywhere close to a nail-biter. Afghanistan was always going to win, India cruised really and even Netherlands v SA, SA gave up in their chase pretty early.
