The most underrated and overrated players in CricketWeb

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
I remember the tail end of Viv’s career and I’ve watched plenty of footage of him in his prime.

If he’d played with modern bats he’d have possibly killed bowlers in their follow thru. No one’s hit the ball harder or further or cleaner.

I’ll die on this hill against anyone who thinks he was overrated.

He personified "Girth"

Sobers' batting is not close to Don..... I don't need to tell you that. I don't think it's really debatable whether Imran is a closer to McGrath as a bowler or Sobers to Don. That pretty much raps this whole fiasco.
Well no. Now if you were talking about the gap between Marshall and Imran @kyear2 would put forward a case.

Plus you know everyone knows Bradman was a total mug in the field. Plus Bradman bowled Hammond. All Sobers could manage was Gavaskar pfft.

Moeen’s averages may be underwhelming, but what if he actually had a settled place in the side and didn’t just do whatever role he was asked to do? Bloke would probably be batting at #3 right now if he still played Tests!

Moeen's averages are flattering if anything. He was a flop and failed horrifically in games that actually matter (the Ashes)

The amazing thing is that I never required your agreement.

As I've said in the past, don't nearly think Bradman is twice the batsman that everyone else is. There's no doubt he was the GOAT, but he was the beneficiary of the perfect storm with regards to conditions and opponents and took full advantage.

I've also said it's not etched in stone that Sobers was no. 1, and of the countless rankings I've posted think I've had Sobers no. 1 no more than once or twice, you seem to be stuck on that one.
But also let's not pretend it's not debatable. Ian Chappell openly says Sobers is the greatest, even Keith Miller is quoted as saying Sobers was the greater player.

Additionally as I've said previously, if you have Sobers at 2nd or in the same tier as who who have second, it's an easier stretch to have him as no. 1, considering he's an ATG slip and fulfilled multiple bowling roles for his team, even if neither rose to the level of great.
That to have the 8th rated bolwer who was a slightly below test standard batsman, ranked 3rd.

I see you're trying to be an ass as usual.

Don't agree with Morkel. I think he was massively overrated tbh.
He does have bowling stats that make him look like an underachiever so I can see why someone might consider him overrated.

I was going purely off his peer reviews. A bowler who batsmen hate facing brings a lot to a team IMO. Sucked for Morkel having to bowling first change and be the enforcer, but his team loved it and opposition hated it.

Moeen batting at 7 and being used as a wicket taking option was peak Moeen. Every other role in the England team he failed.
