Ranji on the basis that Statham didn't get this far, so Bedser doesn't deserve to be here either.

Ranji edges one, but it goes sailing through the slips. 7-6 to the prince.

That concludes the second round & means the following giants of the game are into the quarters: Knott, Hobbs, Barnes, Grace, Boycott, Laker, Hammond & Ranjitsinhji.

The draw, as ever, has been made at random & let's hope Ranji has kept a little in the tank because he's up again!

Battle of the Englishmen: Quarter-Final 1

Geoffrey Boycott
609 FC matches, 48,426 runs @ 56.83 (151 centuries, 238 half-centuries), 45 wickets @ 32.42.

vs

KS Ranjitsinhji
307 FC matches, 24,692 runs @ 56.37 (72 centuries, 109 half-centuries), 133 wickets @ 34.59 (5 wicket innings: 4)

Boycott, all the way. Not that I'm biased or anything.......

And no mention of AP Freeman in the list, he's the 2nd highest first class wicket taker of all time I think.

Pity I missed the last vote - I would have voted for Bedser (I did vote for Statham too).

Anyways, on this one Boycott it is.
