Seriously though, maybe the McGilvray fans underestimated the popularity of his opponent. After all, McGilvray only achieved parity due to two negative votes against Cozier. Votes "for" were 10:8 in favour of Cozier.

Sunil Gavaskar

Playing Career: One of the most successful and important Indian batsmen of all time, scoring over 10,000 runs in test match cricket and held the record for most test centuries (34) for nearly 20 years.
Commentating Pedigree: Has commentated on media worldwide since 1995. Regularly on television, but also in the print media.
Other: * Appointed Sheriff of Mumbai in 1994
* Appointed Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee
* The Border-Gavaskar Trophy was (obviously) named after him.

Tony Greig

Playing Career: Born in South Africa, he played test cricket for England courtesy of his father being Scottish. Maintained a successful all-round career - performing admirably with bat, ball and as captain despite indulging in some ill-judged words at times.
Commentating Pedigree: A good friend of Kerry Packer, he was given a 'job for life' after retiring from international cricket as a commentator. He has, since then, commentated for Channel Nine in Australia and more recently been commentating for Channel 4 in the UK and on radio for TalkSport.
Other: * A board member of the epilepsy foundation
* Joined the Indian Cricket League as an Executive
* Famous for saying "Touch him up, before rolling him over" regarding Steve Harmison needing to bully Glenn McGrath whilst the latter was batting.
