to be fair though...bangladesh only played like one(two if you count bermuda's one) 20/20 match before and that too was against zim...while australia played quite a lot more than them...

The amount of 20/20 matches played by both teams has no bearing on todays game.

It kind of does...because todays games is basically a 20/20 match and if you have little experience playing in this format while the other teams played quite a lot...you wouldn't really know more on how to play in this format than the other team..and so all the bd players just went to swing/slog every ball and it doesn't work that way...plus the aussies have the most power hitters in their team than most others..

Inexperience doesn't excuse incompetence.

Hussey misses out again - didn't even make it to the middle this time. I know the Aussies don't like messing with these things, but was there a case for letting him open today, given that he can barely buy a run in this tournament? Perhaps Mitchell Johnson could have had a game too.

Aussies did exactly what they needed to do - that kind of professionalism to always bring near their best, regardless of the competition, is what separates them from pretty much every other team at the moment. Congrats to McGrath for surpassing a record held by one of the true greats of the game btw.

Bangers were a bit disappointing, although in a Twenty20 scenario against a v. good attack, its always a possibility that things will go awry.

Only downside for Australia was the injuring to Watson - his curse of hurting himself as soon as he begins to string together decent performances continues. His record at this WC bears stating at this point, given it could well be over for him:
Batting at 7:
18* (23), 12* (4), 14* (9), and 33* (26) = 77 (62). 77 runs without dismissal at S/R of 124.2.
Bowling:
0/18 off 7, DNB, 1/46 off 8, 0/31 off 7, 0 /4 of 1.4 overs = 1 wicket at 99. ER: 4.2. ER's good and given he basically didn't get to bowl at Bangladesh before being hurt and wasn't bowled against the Dutch - where you'd think he might have taken a wicket or two, his average is not really representative of a pretty handy performance with the ball as a batting allrounder.

What's the story with Watson? The commentators said it was a slight strain in his left calf but didn't elaborate further as to how long he would be out, if indeed he would miss any games. Good to see Gilchrist getting into some form though, even if he did need a wicket-keeping mix up.

Bangladesh were disappointing though, looking back I think that a 50 over game may have suited them better. Every time they tried to strike out they ended up hitting it straight to a fielder, was rather disappointing and it's something that they need to work on.

that's why inexperince at the 20/20 format does matter...20/20 helps the teams if only they have a lot of good pure power hitters which the aussies do. bangladesh needs to play more 20/20s before its world championship...20/20s kind of effecting odi in that its brining in power hitting a lot more...it would have been better if they used pitches like in the warm up games...any ways bangladesh needs to pick up their games and the aussies needs to give someone else a chance to make it interesting...

:( Watto

Solid 10-wicket victory, though they should've played a full 50 overs tonight instead imo.

no.. not good to experiment even if its against 'lesser teams'

Great win for the Aussies yesterday, they just stamped their class and didn't even give a chance to Bangladesh.

But i am really worried for Watto, is there any update on his injury? I really hope its nothing serious and he plays in the next game.

A very tight game tonight in West Indies v SL.

West Indies need to win to stay alive in contention. A loss is an end to their World Cup.

SL if they lose are realistically out of contention although until they lose to the remaing 4 teams they have yet to play (Australia, NZ , England, Ireland) would be considered as still in contention . (A very tall order given the form of Australia and NZ ) .

I would rather Windies win tonight, because their fans deserve it and for the sake of team unity .

They will be very desperate to win tonight.

Toss at Providence, Guyana will be crucial. I suspect the winner will choose to bowl first.
