Am I right in thinking KJT is the only athlete to defeat Thiem in about 10 years?
Yeah, looks like KJT beat here in 2015 indoor pentathlon as well as in 2019, and then before that the she came 3rd in the 2014 European Champs

If you look at all time PBs in the events, Thiam is the GOAT, rough for KJT to have consistently put in fantastic performances but just come up against someone superhuman

Thats brave in front of 80,000. Glad she said yes even though he finished 11th.

China seem to have won a heck of a lot of medals in events that involve judging.

Events that involve judging tend to require less natural talent and athletic prowess. Medal winners tend to come down to how much time and effort they are willing and able to put into training. The Chinese have the edge there, they to start them young and push them in ways that might be considered abuse elsewhere.

Battocletti nearly pulled off something incredible and at 24 is same age as Chebet.

For GB some slightly better perfs could have turned 4 silvers into golds and added 2 bronzes as well,
but USA raise their game so much here in paris and are so dominant [except in the mens 100m relay],
what will it be like in front of a home crowd in LA 2028? Any point in turning up? ;)
