Of course he has a point. But try saying it on this forum and you will get the champions of the miserable underdog crawling out of the woodwork in unison :p

Its a disgrace. BDesh and the current Zimbabwe outfit.
I do have the instinctive English compulsion to root for the little guy, but in this case one has to ask one's self what purpose does such a blatant mismatch serve? Until 2000 (or thereabouts) Zim had made some good progress, but unfortunately cricket doesn't exist in a vacuum & world events have taken over to such an extent they just aren't competitive anymore.

I don't wanna sound too much of a stat-anorak, but it's affected the integrity of Test Cricket as the "gold-seal" standard of the sport too. Frankly Zim wouldn't unduly trouble any county side just now; even the unis might fancy their chances & I can think of no bigger insult than that!! :D

Saffies scoring quick runs...whats the betting on a win within 1 day?
That'll take some doing, but I reckon they'd love to wrap it up within 2 days. Unless Kallis decides he wants to break Lara's record, that is.

That is the other option of course. record biggest win

Zim 54 and oh, lets be nice and say 100.
SA 1500 ( probably declared ).

SA wins by an innings and 1346 runs.

I hope SA really rub it in, instead of declaring at 400 or something and winning by an innings and 200 or something - make it so huge it becomes an even bigger and more obvious joke. It would also be nice if someone got to say 399* and then just walked off...

At least Zimbabwe have Streak and Blignaut now. They never really faced quality opposition in the period with none of the rebels at all, and it could have been an even bigger humiliation. Streak and Blignaut might bowl well enough to bowl South Africa out for 400-500 and limit it to a massive loss rather than a record breaking one.

Wow, what a disgrace.

South Africa should declare at like 100, and then finish Zimbabwe off.

Why not put up 600 runs for the first wicket with two triple centurions in one innings for the first time :D

or score 1100 runs and win by innings and 1000 runs :)

Or one batsman to score 500 runs and claim the title of the greatest batsman in the history of the game :p

Just look at the positive side, its history in the making :D

On the plus side - Mpofu definitely has potential, gets movement and bounce.

However, provides ample long hops and half volleys to balance it out. This isn't even remotely competitive.

Looks like Smith is going to milk a century against substandard opposition and boost that average again.

By the way, does anyone know of a radio station that covers this match and streams online? I checked talkSPORT but they didn't have it. We don't actually get coverage in any medium (beyond live score updates) of this series in Australia, so I wouldn't mind listening to it on the computer, if only for reasons of morbid curiosity.
