has the potential to be one of the greatest games in history if that would happen!
To be one of the greatest games in history it would need some competetive meaning for mine.
I might also add that a slogfest such as that which those two would probably engage in would actually denegrate, not raise, the quality of viewing.

Priceless.

You must be the only person who thinks that, but then again, you seem to be the only person who thinks most of the things you say.

Well, of course there are some who simply value irreverant slogging over anything else - mercifully, they aren't quite a dominance.

Lol Gilchrist and Cairns in full flight..denegrate the quality of viewing? You really have outdone yourself this time Richo

If they were playing like batsmen it'd be good to watch, but we've seen both denegrate to sloggers of times, and that's presumably what most people were thinking about when they talked about them batting in-tandem.
Personally I find both much lesser players when they play less like batsmen and more like sloggers - both very good indeed when they play properly, though.

Like batsman? If everyone played the same it wouldn't be very interesting to watch. It is because they have a different approach to most cricketers that they are so good to watch. Attacking the bowler and messing up their length. Taking the game to the opposition.

oh dear....we've hit a new low.

You obviously didn't see Gilchrist play yesterday did you Richard?

International Captain
No, no, guys. He's got a point. It'd turn out just like 20/20. :( No people would go to the game and even less people would watch it. Lucky they brought in tests to get the viewers back, eh?

What I find interesting is the makeup of the World XI bowling attack.
McGrath, Gough & Cairns will presumably be the 3 pace-bowlers followed by either Bravo (if he's selected) or Vettori & Warne...with Gayle as the part-timer also.

Will McGrath, Gough & Cairns be able to knock over this Asian selection?..im not so sure.

the Indian players dont mind facing spin. The Vettori / Warne combination will be intriguing to watch.

Trouble ATM is just about everyone does it and myself I'd much prefer see it in the minority.
