**Official** World XI v Asia XI

I was thinking today that the organisers of this game could have made a big mistake by scheduling the game for the MCG. I think it would have been better to schedule the game for the Telstra Dome. What if it rains? They will lose a lot of money and it will be hard to reschedule the game considering the amount of players from different countries and the VB series coming up. Just a thought...

while i understand your point:

1. greater capacity at the mcg, and therefore a greater ability to make money.
2. getting telstra stadium at such short notice, as well as having a wicket prepared
3. wouldnt be suprised if contractually they might have been forced to play at the mcg.

Did you smoke a lot of crack the morning you posted that? More than your normal daily roast I'd wager.
Nope - never touched the stuff in my life and I can categorically assure anyone I never will.

And how many people do you think would demand a refund rather than contributing it to the fund?

The fewer players who bat like Gilchrist, the more I'll enjoy the game.
I simply don't like seeing the ball hit like that, no matter how "clean, hard and indescriminately" it's done (indeed the final is very much a turn-off).
If I was eating cornflakes right now, I would have choked on them when reading that comment...

God I hope it doesn't rain. :(

Well this match will be an official ODI match.

Outrageous.
An unusual decision, maybe, but I don't think it is enough to move someone to outrage.

Why? It is a combination of some of the best ever ODI players of this generation.
Hey it is a charity match, nothing more.

By that logic should of the ROW v Asia matches played back in 2000 been official ODI matches as they consisted of that very reason you listed?

I don't see why they shouldn't.

It may be a charity match, but it is a showcase of the best players in the world. As far as I'm aware there will be no players 'miked' up, nor will they be sharing jokes with umpires and running into each other or tackling each other on purpose, so if it played in the right spirit it should be given the status.

There is no competetive element to these matches - the players are not taking it seriously.
ODIs are matches that should be taken with the utmost severity at all times.

Don't worry, I'm not claiming it to be a normal POV.

Though it doesn't really matter to me, I'm kinda glad that this match has been given official status. That would mean that the players would take the match seriously.

It could be a charity match but that doesn't mean that both sides shouldn't be competitive and go for a win. A lot of great players from around the world are coming together for this one and they owe it to the fans.

Well, that would mean that all games played by top teams against Canada, Bangladesh and the like should be stripped of ODI status. Come to think of it, let's strip ODI status from the games that England played in the late 90s.
