One advantage that Lara has is that he has Chris Gayle coming in after Merv. I would take an injuried Gayle over Colleymore anyday with the bat.
I wouldn't. I wouldn't want to see Gayle damage his hamstring further.

You are probably right.

The temptation will be to go out to bat and hang in with who will IMO get a big double 100.

Lara got his 200. Went from 198 to 202 and then next ball he holed out playing a similar shot. WI made 410.

Gibbs broke his nose trying to hook Vasbery Drakes. That puts him in doubt for the next Test? Because he retired hurt.

Clearly Lara is going to bat all day tomorrow and rack up 379 not out before declaring with a lead of 300 runs and putting SA in for 5 overs from hell tomorrow evening. Clearly...
Huh?? Why would he stop so close?

The next Test is a week away, so I wouldn't be surprised if he returned. He looks a tough guy.
Steve Waugh did. (in Sri Lanka after colliding with Jason Gillespie)

Did he not have a helmet on? Or did it go between the visor and the grille?
BTW, who is this Peterson guy? Whatever happened to Boje?

Between visor and grille.

Peterson is South Africa's latest allrounder. Last I heard, Boje was out of it because he was injured, but now I think he's fallen out of form.

South African declaration now imminent with a lead of 370 plus. We can't rely on Lara to make 50% of the runs again, so who'll step up to the plate? My guess would be Sarwan, though Shiv must be due a change of luck.

Very far to go now. Windies struggling, but I'm not disappointed at all. We didn't throw away our wickets, but rather we fell to an absolutely brilliant spell of bowling by Ntini. Superb.

Sarwan and Lara have to bat until after lunch if we are to draw.

Bojé did his cruciates in Simon Jones style whilst substitute fielder in the NatWest Series ODIs in England this summer. It wasn't pretty.

Uh-oh spaghettio.

81/5

Chanderpaul 29*
Jacobs 2*

Pollock 2/18
Ntini 3/40

Looks like a South Africa victory to me unless Shiv can pull a monster innings out the bag.

Chanders batting well and Jacobs too. I'm not going to predict a draw, victory or defeat, because anything can happen in this game of cricket.
