What a moron this Andre Nel is. Someone really needs to give him a working over in the next test. A few 95mph bouncers from Fidel should do the trick.

If Gayle can't make the 2nd test, Windies have to fly Devon Smith out. It's bad enough having Ganga opening, but adding Dwayne Smith or Carlton Baugh as a specialist bat is plain suicidal.

I would also like to see The Prophet play, but not sure which quick would be dropped. Fidel was the worst of the 4 in this match, but is the only one with real pace.

Yeah I saw what he did, very low. He must be a really poor bowler if he celebrates like that to get out injured batsman and tailenders, because he musn't get many wickets.

There's very little one can say about Andre Nel which hasn't been said before.

An idiot in Tasmania, an idiot in the West Indies - and now an idiot at home.

Note to Andre Nel - Allan Donald was a brilliant, hostile bowler. You, sir, are just a donkey.

Gayle definitely will not be 100% for the 2nd Test, in which case I think he should rest it out. I don't see what Ganga did wrong whilst opening. He looked rather organized. They are not going to fly someone out unless Gayle has to return home. These things cost money.

Also, do you have something against Carlton Baugh? The man smashed 150odd a week ago and scored an unbeaten hundred against the Aussies earlier this year.

Fidel Edwards wasn't at his best, but he still bowled the ball of the match. :)

It was a fast, sharp rising delivery which had Kallis attempting to duck away, but it followed him. The ball hit his glove and ricocheted over slip.

I don't know what he did since i didn't watch much of the match but i guess he used his mouth and laughed when batsman got hit. He does that everytime he bowls. I remember when India were in SAF he did the same thing to Ganguly and consistently bowled bouncers at him. But Ganguly came back and pulled him for 2 sixes and Ganguly walked up to Nel there but Nel returned without saying a word  . He was dropped after that match as the Indians enjoyed his bowling.

When Chris Gayle was dismissed, he basically laughed in his face, tongue hanging down to his chin as if performing a Haka.

Yep, thats the second best ball ive seen in South Africa, after the ball from Donald that cleaned up Atherton on the first morning of the 2000.. Fidel Edwards was rapid, Makhaya bowled better though...

I dont know what to make of André Nel, he is without doubt a very good bowler, and he tries to be hostile, which is fair enough, but his reaction at getting rid of Chris Gayle wasnt "hard" at all, it was just laughable...

If he wants to be like AD, then brilliant :D , he has the pace, but he should watch AD confront Athers in the '98 series  AD is the master at long stares and verbals without crossing the line into abuse.

Absolutely unbelievable... Andre Nel has been fined half his match fee for poking his tongue out at Gayle....

What has this beloved game turned into??? I hope his table manners are up to scratch... He'd better watch out!

I hope Highveld Stereo do one of there run arounds to collect funds for outrageous fines so Nel doesnt have to pay them himself :)

It was out of line and apparently against the new 'Spirit of the Game' clauses in the ICC Code of Conduct. Plus, it made him look like an ass.

No - Andre Nel was NOT fined half his match fee for sticking his tongue out.

Andre Nel was fined half his match fee for verbals, running down the wicket to within 3 yards of the batsman on more than one occasion (the tactic he continually used to try to rile Lara - especially when BCL continually turned his back on him) and just basically for being a boorish oaf.

There is a place for aggression in cricket, of course - but there is a line you mustn't cross. It's arguable that he didn't actually go too far - he just pushed it and pushed it time after time. The more the batsmen failed to react, the more extraordinary his antics became. The Gayle incident was just the last straw.

Even Graeme Smith was reported as saying 'Nel has a screw loose', but he qualified it by saying that 'his aggression is what makes him a good player'.

Baugh looked out of his depth IMO in his start to Test cricket and they were merely side matches. Even Gayle scored a 100 against them (Australia in the side match) and he did nothing spectular.

Im' going to be the odd man out and say Nel was one of South Africa's best bowler if not thee best.

1/ Baugh hasn't played much Test cricket yet. Gayle may not have reproduced his tour match form in the Tests, but he didn't need ot prove himself. We already know that Gayle is a good batsman capable of staying at the top. On the other hand, Baugh hadn't proved that, but he did prove that he can play superbly against high quality bowling. How can you fault the young man for it? Your point re:Gayle is totally irrelevant.

2/ What did Nel do to deserve that honour? IMO he was too short for the most part and didn't make the batsmen play enough.

I dis feel on occasions he did bowl without some luck when bowling to Gayle.

And I again reirratate the point it was a side game, Tests are a different kettle of fish.

It was a near full strength Aussie side! The bowling attack was Lee, Gillespie, MacGill and Bichel!! Regardless of whether it was a Test, ODI or village game, those four form a more than decent attack.

Why can't you give him at least a bit of credit as though he may have just a little talent?
