I think Ganga was far too busy looking terrified to lok organized. How he got past the opening bowlers in the 1st innings I don't know, though full credit to him for going on to make a decent score (shocking dismissal in the end though!). He just doesn't look the part of a test match opener.Mr Mxyzptlk said:I don't see what Ganga did wrong whilst opening. He looked rather organized. They are not going to fly someone out unless Gayle has to return home. These things cost money.
Also, do you have something against Carlton Baugh? The man smashed 150odd a week ago and scored an unbeaten hundred against the Aussies earlier this year.
Fidel Edwards wasn't at his best, but he still bowled the ball of the match.
Actually the line up was Noffke, Bichel, Gillespie, MacGill and Hogg.Mr Mxyzptlk said:It was a near full strength Aussie side! The bowling attack was Lee, Gillespie, MacGill and Bichel!! Regardless of whether it was a Test, ODI or village game, those four form a more than decent attack.
Why can't you give him at least a bit of credit as though he may have just a little talent?
I'm not suggesting he was horrible, but there's a big difference between being "not horrible" and being good enough to be picked as a specialist bat away to South Africa.Mr Mxyzptlk said:Baugh wasn't horrible in the games against Australia. He certainly wasn't the worst.
So basically you're discounting the runs by proving to me that only one of the bowlers in world class? Ok fair enouh. So I guess Ganguly's hundred doesn't count, Dravid's double hundred doesn't count, Laxman's hundred added to the list?Craig said:Actually the line up was Noffke, Bichel, Gillespie, MacGill and Hogg.
Only one of the five is truely world class. And that is Gillespie. Noffke probably would of played for Australia by now in ODIs and perhaps in a couple of Tests if it werent for injuries.
Bichel is good but he is nothing exceptional. He has a big heart though but it doesnt make him a great bowler. MacGill is too inconsistant IMO and Hogg is a good one-day bowler.
Not so sure about Tests although to his credit and can lay to claim to getting Lara out a few times in the two Tests he played in (although Lara actually got himself out IMO).
Rather let's hope Gayle is fit so you won't get the chance to look like an idiot.garage flower said:Anyway, sod it, let's hope they pick him and he makes me look an idiot.
No I was correcting you on the bowlers he scored the runs against.Mr Mxyzptlk said:So basically you're discounting the runs by proving to me that only one of the bowlers in world class? But how does that change my opinion of Baugh's innings? He faced an attack which was at least par to the current Australian attack. Rather, if Gillespie isn't fit for the Boxing Day Test, it is better than the current attack.Craig said:No I was correcting you on the bowlers he scored the runs against.
In my own opinion I think Gillespie is truely a world class bowler, but whether or not you think MacGill and Bichel are good bowlers or even international standards is up to you.
I will debate with you later but I'm hungry and going to have dinner.
Mild at best. :PPY said:West Indians 157/4,

He's got a bit of form at the moment hasn't he?
Expected him to be one of the standouts this year but he has got the Hinds, Gayle inconsistency in him tooMr Mxyzptlk said:RR Sarwan c Gamiet b Pringle 4
