Agreed, but then New Zealand has had some quality about them for a while in ODIs. That said, ODI cricket is the more potent form of the game as far as the West Indies batting is concerned. In that way, both teams are similar.Tim said:No thats right. We've got a bit of work to do in tests, but in ODI's we're getting close to being pretty good.
We will just have to see but I rate them at the moment between Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and then the rest of the bunch but we will have to see this series they may be able to pull something off. Its unpredictable. Brian Lara isn't playing ODIs in this series is he? wasn't there an article a while ago saying he wasn't playing in ODIsPrince EWS said:From the looks of some of the posts in this thread, the West Indian ODI team is tremendously under-rated....
That zoom you just heard was the point flying way over your head.Natman20 said:In terms of ODI cricket I see no similarities between these teams. I think this will be an easy whitewash for NZ. I think West Indies arnt very competitive anymore which is kind of sad. Tests may be different though which I put down to lack of international tests NZ plays. The West Indies batting might be ok but I see there main problem being in the bowling department.
He exploded onto the scene a couple years back with genuine pace, good accuracy, and a keen ability to reverse swing the ball. He was only 18/19 back then though, and he broke down after a couple of Tests. He fought back from injury and returned with a bang in the Carib Cup last season. He then broke down again midseason. He's recovered once more and bowled okay this season. He's nowhere near ready for international cricket though, IMO. I think him going to New Zealand is almost as bad as Jermaine Lawson going to Australia - they're rushing him.Natman20 said:Has anyone seen this Jerome Taylor guy bowl? His stats look like he is quite promising it will be interesting.
Because he's not actually that good?Tim said:So why isn;t he going to the West Indies with the England 'A' team?
He may be though, at least his form whilst playing for Otago suggests that there is something there for the English selectors to look at.marc71178 said:Because he's not actually that good?

c'mon Marc the guy has play 90 out of Warwickshire's 93 games over the last 2 seasons - he hasn't missed a single first class match (2331 runs@46.62) and has only missed 3 LO games. He's your 3rd best batsman (after Knight and Bell)marc71178 said:But his form and the fact that he's IMO not even a Warwickshire definite with a fully fit squad means he's miles away from England.
The WI suck ATM,they are nowere near a fully fit NZ team In ODI(even with BCL)if they did cause an upset by wining a few games it will be because of there bowlersMr Mxyzptlk said:That zoom you just heard was the point flying way over your head.
New Zealand has a potent batting lineup that doesn't fire consistently.
West Indies has a potent batting lineup that doesn't fire consistently.
That was the extent of my point. The West Indies batting is also more potent than that of New Zealand. The fact that New Zealand has a better ODI team has no bearing on that AFAIK.
You're aware of the meaning of 'potent', right?cric_manic said:The WI suck ATM,they are nowere near a fully fit NZ team In ODI(even with BCL)if they did cause an upset by wining a few games it will be because of there bowlers
