Heard someone say McMillan's been up into the mid-140's this summer, where they were taking that figure from I'm not exactly sure. Not that sheer pace is everything of course.

He has been clocked bowling in the early to mid 140's in numerous occasions, but he has two major problems. One is that his body falls to pieces and the second is that he can stray in line and length from time to time. But he has been bowling very well recently in that he has been bowling full, straight and fast. When Bracewell was at Otago's four day against Canterbury early last year, he was very keen on McMillan, as he was bowling quite quick. But shortly after he broke down. From what I have heard Bracewell wants to have an injury free season and if he can don't be suprised to see him pop up in atleast the ''A'' team.

I'd say at the end of the State Shield final which is on the 12th. The first ODI is on the 18th in Wellington.

The Twenty20 team will probably be named after the 20/20 final this weekend maybe for the Feb 16th game.

I don't think there will be many surprises anyway. If there is going to be a shock, it'll be Ross Taylor but I have a feeling it'll be pretty much the same players used as the Sri Lankan series with Chris Harris to replace Cairns.

Sorta sums Harris up as one of the jammiest cricketers ever.

Great article on Chris Harris.

He reckons his right arm is no longer up to international standard for throwing so he's gone and developed his left arm & can now throw 50 metres! What a sporting legend.
Amazing, that.

I badly damaged a tendon in my finger many years ago (amongst other injuries), and couldn't bowl with my left arm for a year (tenpin). I was averaging around 190 at the time and was just beginning to break in the England rankings (top few hundred, mind - nothing spectacular). I spent months learning to bowl with my right arm and eventually got up to about 160 average, but it never felt natural - muscle memory would kick in on occasion and I'd start my approach on the wrong foot. I was never more grateful than when I was told that I could go back to being a leftie again.

Good luck to him - and yes, an excellent article.

Personally I don't think this is the time to make changes in the squad apart from the replacement of Cairns.
