Firstly, what does Marshall have to do to get dropped? They obviously believe Fulton has overtaken him for the number three spot. I would like to hold judgement on the idea until we see how it goes, but what sort of message does it send to the other openers around the country (Papps etc), when it feels like they are so keen to keep him in the team.

Secondly, good on Vincent for saying he doesn't want to open in tests. It would be like picking a good spinner to open the bowling in an ODI, despite the fact he kept on getting smacked around - he would just look silly as he wasn't doing the job he suits best. Good luck to him on getting back in though. Guess it depends on Fulton failing really.

Thirdly, Chris Martin and Kyle Mills? Never thought I would say this, but I prefer Mills at the moment. I would still like Mason to have another go, but he is injured at the moment, or is there anyone else?

Whatever opinion is, good luck to the lads. Hope they give a good account of themselves (they should do), though the Windies do look like giving them a better contest by the day (rues the fact that Windies warm up games were the first two ODI's)...

I'd rather see Greer Robson be given a crack (excuse the pun) first, seeing as she has the pedigree, having gone out with Parore.
She could open with Sally Ridge. If you know what I mean.

I think the windies can cause a shock here and win at least one test... and possibly even win/draw the series. NZ has had bugger all test cricket for aaaaages

ONLY if Fidel Edwards fires though, I dont see too many problems with the rest of their attack. But if he gets among the top order look out, WI batting can easily own what I see as a pretty ordinary attack of ours.Ive noticed Bonds occasional propensity for just ambling in when he doesnt have rythm and he will be smashed just like SA did to him if he does that. Overall Im just not convinced about our bowling

Id love to have seen Ross Tayor selected, 1st time Id sighted him in the ODI's and apart from his clear talent and quick hands I was pleasantly suprised to see a Maori face peering out from under the visor. Bout time you natives stumped up a cricketer :P

Again...shame about our bowling, the emergence of Fulton/Taylor/Ryder is all good, but if only we had some seamers queuing up as well! Michael Mason apart from looking like he's probably married to his mum I dont rate as international class, but he appears to be the back up. grim

ummmm...I take Marshall is opening? What a haphazard opening combo that is. Bring back Rigor

Im keen on Patel being there, he ould be a star, I like the cut of his jib 8)

Great to have Lara here, every moment the man is at the crease I'll be watching :D

Is Oram so injured he cannot bat? I thought he just couldnt bowl, if he can bat Im surpised Fulton is there ahead of him

Who cares about wat race the players are as long as they are good enough to play international cricket,i hear lots of people say we need to get more black people in cricket(in NZ).........Why if they aint good enough we shouldnt pick them, people saying that black people dont get a even chance because cricket is an expensive sport and they have been sterotyped as 'good sportsman'

eny way thats enough of that, yes Taylor is samoan i still think ryder should have been givin a go instead of him thou

hmmmmmm wat else can i say um Marshall shouldnt be opening rather see Cumming or Papps there

I care. Its a good thing to see NZ's different cultures represented in our team. Different enthicities potentially bring different skill and mind sets to the table. Look at the exceptional flair that our Polys bring to rugby and Michael Campbell to golf, Maori have special talents and NZ Cricket needs to make the most of this. Its been hard tio get the buggers to make much notice of the game unfortunately

your last sentence doesnt actually make a hell of a lot of sense....

True enough I guess Voltman, although Davies and Tuffey are hardly world class. Davies is a comic figure more than anything

I dnt agree just because your Black that doesnt mean you shud be in the team,My last sentence was pretty much wat you said about the Special Talent or watever its a load of crap you cant say/she is a good player just coz of there race. Its up to the Idividual to have special talent not the race

Dnt get me wrong i aint Maori bashing here,it wouldnt bother me if the entire NZ cricket team was full of them if they were there on merit not just coz of there Maori/poly

When did "world-class" suddenly come into it? You never mentioned that in your first post. A classic case of shifting the goalposts to suit your argument.
