Why is it sad? It's a game of cricket.

The West Indies have bowled well and deserve to win. I am happy for them, they have been written off by the NZ media (and by people on this forum) when they aren't a bad side.

New Zealand isn't good enough to be arrogant.

Agree with you Blaze, the NZ Media have written them off completely as have the New Zealand team with talk of changing batting lineups, etc.

As you say, we're not good enough to be arrogant!

It's a sad top order performance. Especially in terms of the opening the other day by NZ.

I would call a side that has won 3 out of their last 20 ODI's, and lost 14 out of their last 20 tests a bad side.

You are right NZ are not good enough to be arrogant though.

And if the West Indies don't win, will you still think they deserve to win?

That isn't to say we still can't win. If McCullum had have stayed in we would probably be favourites now.

People crap on about how intelligent a cricketer Vettori is, how smart is it to run your best chance of winning out?

If NZ win, I'd say that we'll be very lucky, but we also bowled well so I don't think anyone "deserves" this match.

Talent wise West Indies are better than the eleven we put out today.

No, they would have to bowl poorly to lose from here and wouldn't deserve to win.

Guess it just depends who bats better. That feels hard to say though! Hinds batted really well.

He is a pretty intelligent cricketer. One facet of his game (running between wickets) is lacking smarts

He gets far too much praise. He is a decent one day bowler, an average test bowler. Look at his stats.

Sorry, but I still have trouble reading that then seeing "I love Ashley Giles"...

And I would say, yes, he is a decent one day bowler.

I think his test stats are slightly ruined because of his inconsisitent period through all his injuries. Especially around the time that Pakistan and South Africa last toured here. Even when he did bowl well, umpires were pretty harsh to him. He couldn't buy a wicket.

We should. It's been ugly, but we should. Ultimately, it was a great fightback from Fulton and McCullum, and Vettori has batted well even if he ran out McCullum...

Vettori did well to get us home, it's the least he could do after running McCullum out but all the same it was impressive.

I didn't think our lower order could get us home. Vettori and Franklin haven't really done much at ODI level with the bat in the past and so this effort was encouraging.
