I don't have the exact numbers but I'm pretty sure blundell has now scored more runs than Van Wyk and Hopkins combined.

I grudgingly accepted that he does at the end of last summer, though should bat 6, or at a stretch 7 below Watling.
He was still averaging even less than Santner with the bat before this game, and his game certainly seems to suit teeing off with the tail more than Santner's. He's justified his spot primarily through his bowling really -- the fact that he finally scored some runs just meant it was harder to ignore how surprisingly well he'd bowled more than anything else.

Its because they hate fun and for reasons unknown think they can do better than Blackwood. They can't and should stop dropping him every time he goes out of form. Silly team indeed.
How much do the Windies need a hack and slash 50 every few innings?

I know his batting average was/is still bad, but I'm going on the logic that his batting will come to the fore and his bowling will be a useful extra (very useful at home, and good for a few overs but no wickets away). Just hated the idea of him as a no-rounder so want him to primarily justify his spot on batting.

Not exactly elite players lining up to replace him is there though?

I'd rather a fun hack than some well meaning but mediocre scrub.

Ambris had a really good A series against Sri Lanka A, looked a million bucks in his ODi and then slapped a ton in the warmup game -- I think he justified his selection over Blackwood with that.

Hetmyer has never looked anything other than completely out his depth to me, but of all the fringe batsmen he was definitely the most suited to #3 which I think is why he's playing (plus his age I guess).

I think I would've picked Blackwood as well but it was a 50/50 call IMO. It wasn't a shocker.

It blows my mind that CDG is now in the top ten fastest test tons. Didn't even seem all that quick

Think he’s looked good ... got a bit nervous from 45-50, but looked right at home apart from that.

I think the batting line up should have been:
6. Blundell
7. de Grandhomme
8. Santner
If Blundell looks solid enough for 6, that's a good sign. Always felt Santner at 6 is at least 1 -2 places too high, even if he has been batting higher for ND, so yeah I'd prefer him at 8.

Says a bit about how little I’ve followed he lead up to this series, but where is Watling?

Santner is a guy I can see batting at six in five years time. No clue why they keep pushing him now
