I understand WWeathers' indignation though. NZ is still ranked 2 places behind Windies and haven't put away Bangladesh like they managed to. I'm just seeing more development in NZ's players than the Windies'.

We'll see. I have a feeling that, like the current Ashes series, there's a bit more to look at than just wins/losses and most cricket followers certainly wouldn't be surprised if NZ did win that series.
Forgive me if i sound ignorant but really where is the development? your best batsman is 29 years old and has been around for a good while..Williamson is decent but still only averages in he 30s while Mccullum has openly admitted that he's got back problems and may not be able to last very long in test cricket. I'm not trying to downplay NZ!!..the two quicks are huge for NZ cricket and will serve you well for years to come but from a batting perspective i don't see anything great coming up!!..Anderson hasn't even been able to dominate the worst bowling unit i've ever seen in a WI shirt!!..

We may have our problems right now...but Bravo, Narine, Roach, Powell, Brathwaite, Holder etc are all 25 or under!!..so we're building for the future and i'm hopeful they, along with a few others will push us on eventually.

Not surprised about Shilly!!..and it's somehing that clearly has been on his mind during this series but stll he stupid selectors contrived to pick him!! :@ ...this might be the end for him now!!..especially when you consider this is the second time he's been called.

The great thing is Narine will get to start his test career again!!..and believe me he is the BEST spinner we have!!..full stop. It would have been nice to have seen him and Shilly together but Permaul is still young and learning!!..while Ashley Nurse is something to watch out for....

Another name from the past is Bishoo!!..apparently he's pulling up trees for his club side in Guyana and his found his mojo again!!..we'll see when our four day competition starts in two months time.

29 is 10 years younger than 39!

Williamson's what, 23?
Southee and Boult 25
Sodhi 21
Watling's 28 and also coming into his prime.

Anderson is a bit of a work in progress at 22 and I'd agree that right now he's not a test match number 6. Still, he certainly hasn't looked out of his depth this series. Honestly, I like McCullum but if he retired now it wouldn't be a huge loss. Ryder is available now and is a far superior batsman.

Developments:

1.)Openers scoring runs
2.)Kane looking better every game
3.)Taylor back in form
4.)Watling is the goods
5.)Anderson is a work in progress, and is good under pressure.
6.)Ryder will slot back in somewhere
7.)McCullum finally scored some ****ing runs
8.)Southee and Boult will only get better

The openers complaints are pretty funny. 18 months ago we would have murdered small children for two openers averaging 30+ and one averaging whatever Fulton has averaged this year.

Good to see we've gotten used to the occassional solid start.

Taylor has been averaging 60 odd over the last couple of years. Williamson has improved mightily in the same time period. Ryder is a vastly superior batsman to McCullum. And Anderson has had a very positive introduction to test cricket, even though the standard of opposition isn't that flash. But the real development has obviously been in the bowling, and in that respect New Zealand are probably the most improved side in the world over the last couple of years. Particularly pleasing are how Southee and Boult continue to do damage against quality batting in a wide variety of conditions.

Flem will shout to the gods, Milne will become third seamer, and do well. Flem will then be able to sit back and relax forever.

I like the camaraderie that they have together.

I would be interested to know Ruthers avg without that big century however.

lol @ Samuels being told he's not allowed to bowl a 'quicker' delivery. How subjective is that. Is there suppose to be a km limit on it? Or is the umpire supposed to step in at a certain point? Seems a ludicrously subjective decision to me.

While he's no Allan Donald, Wagner is still a definite improvement over post-Hobart Doug.
Of test bowlers we've had since the last membrs of our previous good team retired after the 2007 world cup, I would only take Marto, O'Brilliant and Bond ahead of Wagner.

Which makes it all the more sad there are several domestic bowlers who are probably better than him currently, but most of them are new ball bowlers. We really had a drought between 2007-2011.

"But sir, I've been clocked at 140kph. That was only 120 clicks!"

Tuffey was definitely better than Wagner. Adams too IMO but it's hard to really count that one.

Yeah, the kiwi team, McCullum and Fulton aside, is very young. Even Rutherford can't be written off at this point (though I think another failure at the Tron should see him take a break from the side). Realised this when I noticed how unchanged my 2018 team looked. Should only get better over the next 2 or 3 years (touch wood).
