Strauss is an amazing find for England! Three centuries at Lord's this season. The radio commentators joke that no matter how well he's played this season there will always be someone who says "He can only play at Lord's".

Chris Gayle has gone to hospital for an X-ray on his index finger. Pedro Collins has injured his shoulder with the fall he took on the first ball of the day. As they say, when it rains, it pours... :(

A crucial point to look at in this series coming up:

Nasser Hussain and Mark Butcher were crucial in the England victories in the Caribbean. Both will be absent tomorrow.
Both their replacements seem to be doing quite well!

it is hard to judge properly, coz WI are bowling poorly...but I think in Strauss, England have got themselves a real star...and if Key turns out to be the real deal, this England batting line up could start to make big waves

Well, Thorpe says he likes to bat down the order. ;)

Maybe drop Giles and go in with four seamers? Tresco, Strauss, Key, Butcher, Vaughan, Thorpe, Flintoff, Jones, Jones, Hoggard, Harmy...nah, bat-heavy.

One thing's for sure, Pietersen won't get in there easily!

These English batsmen are certainly making the selectors earn their money. Two batsmen out with injury in the Tests this season and two different replacements. Both replacements score centuries. Is there room for Mark Butcher in the 2nd Test?

of course there is....you dont pick a batsman who scores on a flat track over a proven test match batsman.
strauss continues his run of form at lords, although he does need to sort out that defence of his....

A glorious knock receives a glorious ovation. Strauss gone finally.

Re: Butcher/Key. In Key's defence, he's looked superb technically, flat wicket or not. Butcher has done little in recent times and I think he'll find it hard to maintain his place with Key doing as he has today. It's sort of the same with Chanderpaul and Joseph at the moment.

true but it is hard to find technical flaws on a flat wicket.....and it would be foolish IMO to drop chanderpaul for joseph.
