**Official** West Indies in England 2012

Biryani Pillow

U19 Vice-Captain
Why are people using this series as a stick to beat West Indies with? Considering how many teams have been annihilated in England over recent years - particularly Bangladesh who for some reason people are comparing West Indies with - I think this is a decent effort.

I still fancy West Indies with Narine (Gayle etc. may help too but mostly Narine) to beat New Zealand. It's the mentality with West Indies, if they get the odd win under their belts they'll play better generally. They have a horrendous record in away Tests, but I could definitely see them competing anywhere in the world really. Even if batsmen pick Narine he'll still get them out, he should knock over tailenders for fun which is a big issue with West Indies. With a bit of belief and Narine they would have probably taken Tests off Australia and India.
I agree with much of this.

And suddenly feel 'unclean'

Norwood's on Fire
His most recent Test performances have had nothing to suggest that he is a better bowler - let alone all-round cricketer given Bresnan averages close to 40 with the bat. Hell, I would say he's not a better bowler than Tremlett (who seems to have vanished from the face of the earth since Lord's last year).

Seriously, the only scenarios in which I would contemplate playing Finn are A. in a case where one or both of Anderson/Broad are rested (which is a definite possibility for the 3rd Test given how much of the summer is still to come) or B. as part of a 5 man attack (which is also a possibility if Bresnan and Broad continue to improve their batting).

He is not one of the best three bowlers in England, or more pertinently, one of the best three cricketers who have bowling as their primary speciality in England. And as such playing Finn legitimately over Bresnan strikes me as wholly misguided given that Bresnan has done absolutely nothing wrong in his Test career thus far, unless we're marking down "takes wickets" and "scores runs".
Tremlett played a Test V Pakistan, got injured again.

Marlon Samuels having an amazing tour so far.

Still amazes me how a bloke's off side play can go from sublime to diabolical in one over though.

Yeah I agree, they've generally kept pace pretty well despite having a terrible batting lineup and much worse attack than England. Loads more application than they've shown on their last couple of tours to England, when they were facing weaker sides.

As expected the Windies have shown a bit more fight today. Hope Bresnan gets his 5 wicket haul.

For all the stick Bresnan gets, he keeps on producing the performances. He may not look like an international superstar alrounder should but he is getting some stats that say he may be if he carries on as he is. Has looked a different bowler since the 2nd morning here, maybe in the first day here he got the overs under his belt to click int form.

For all those Aussies throwing in about Pattinson and Harris, they need to prove they aren't crocks yet. Both have missed nearly as many games as they have played since their debuts. Make Flintoff and Gough look like supreme athletes at present.

Harris's knee has basically disintegrated but Pattinson is 21 ffs and there have been a grand total of 10 Tests since his debut. I have no idea why people are going LOOK INJURY PRONE over him all of a sudden.

One wicket in 100 minutes, and not a ball from Swann. By way of dropping a hint, he took the ball and marked out his run before this over.

All Pattinson's shown is the unfortunate Australian tendency to get crocked really.

The fact that he has missed a fair few games is probably the reason. Hardly ideal is it that he has got injured so often already. Might be bad luck or he might be a crock, only time will tell.

In defence of Broad he was basically fit for 3 years or so then since the ashes down under has picked up a few injuries. Not in the same league as the others yet but certainly a question mark over him long term.
Pattinson has been playing tests for 5 months, but you're happy to put the kybosh on him....
