*Official* West Indies in Bangladesh

Are you seriously suggesting that getting a couple of tons at club level is the same as international level?

As far as international cricket is concerned, he has been failing throughout the whole year other than that ton in that third test which looked like it took the life out of him. That's hardly being in "top class" form.
I think with regards players that have not proven themselves at Test level, then a few tons at first-class level will only suggest he's in decent nick but the step up may still prove a tough one to take. As it is we're talking about Chanderpaul, a proven Test player, we know he can mix it with the elite so it really is a case of him finding some form, which he has done, emphatically so, in England. It doesn't appear as though he's losing his touch at the top level, so I expect him to be doing the business for the WI for a little longer yet.

You appear to be using a different meaning of the word "form" to the rest of us.

What meaning are you using that would put him in top class form?

Are you seriously suggesting that of all the West Indies batsmen, Chanderpaul will struggle most against Bangladesh?
No, Bangladesh is probably the easiest attack to face at the moment. I am just saying that if all the only class player they have got standing in their way is Chanderpaul who has not been in the best of form they might pull off an upset.

Anyways, I am pretty sure WI will win the tests but they might struggle. Bangladesh might pull off a some ODI victories though.

haha wtf? FC cricket is second only to Test cricket itself in determining whether a batsman is playing well or not.

Not at all.

But if you are saying just having a good first class record means your gonna be good at international cricket that is something I have to kindly disagree with.

Yeah until Chanderpaul shows he can succeed at Test level his first class record is clearly meaningless.

I can see both sides of the story here. Chanderpaul, until that last innings against India has mostly failed internationally. However, first class scores, especially in country cricket should count for something.

Love how this debate is going in circles.

When I say he is not in good form in international cricket "look at his first class record." When I say first class isn't the same level as international cricket "look at his international record."

He is a proven Test performer, a player far better than any of his teammates Gayle included. A player who had come into some bad form. Now after some time off he has shown some good form in one of the best domestic competitions in the world, such good form that he very nearly gave his team the County Championship.

And you think that he hasn't given any indication that he might put up any sort of fight for Bangladesh? The weakest Test attack in the world by some distance (and far weaker than several country attacks).

It's a mind boggling opinion. Sure he could fail but any player can.

Ponting who was being seen as the greatest after Bradman is getting bashed day in and out for his bad form. I don't see you guys give him the same treatment.

I have said that much myself.

Its mind boggling to think that a player who has been in bad form in international can struggle at the opposition's home ground? Sure its Bangladesh but even class players in form have failed to perform there sometimes.

I don't see Ponting going to County Cricket and bashing a load of runs to prove his form.
