Past it? Honestly Craig...
I didn't say he is past it - read again Liam. I asked it as a question or a factor for what has been for his run drought?

And yet you have the nerve to have a go at me for not reading posts, and here you are just as bad. Congratulations.

And Michael Holding in today's paper has given the West Indian team a blasting by saying they have a poor attitude (ie Tino Best) and their pace attack as 'haphazard'.

Apparently he is expecting Australia to win 3-0.

what did he expect when they have 1 specialist pace bowler at the moment and his name is tino best?

Oh, well done Craig. Fantastic point, considering the content of my post directly stated that I said you said he was past it. I'm so thankful you quoted me to back up that magnificent point. Congratulations. 8-)

That's only playing in this particular tour match.

I think he was referring to the whole tour party, which includes Best, Edwards, Collymore, Powell and Lawson.

well i honestly think that pace attack has plenty of potential, especially after collins comes back into it.

Indeed, and thats why Holding's article was being mentioned. It was controversial and most likely wrong in the eyes of most cricket watchers.

That's the problem with a few people here.

Their posts start off superbly, concise and to the point - then they throw it all away by putting words in them.

Hopefully, Samuels will kick on from here as he is a real talent that has apparently handicapped himself with attitude problems.
I hope he does too, because from what I saw of him a few years ago, he seemed extremely talented, and with a good temperament at the crease.

I've never known if the attitude issues were really the issue (mainly because it seems that just about every contemporary West Indian cricketer seems to have to deal with this allegation) so much as some factional interests and a bit of a loss of form. I'd really like to see him do well.

That bowling action's a bit cissy though.

Is the guy about to fly or what?

Hopefully Langer recovers in time, if not i'd pick Hussey to replace him, mr.Jaques will have to wait. Predicted teams for 1st test:

Australia:
Langer (Hussey)
Hayden
Ponting
Katich
Clarke
Watson
Gilchrist
Warne
Lee
Bracken
McGrath

West Indies:
Gayle
Smith
Sarwan
Lara
Chanderpaul
Samuels
Bravo
Ramdin
Powell
Edwards
Collymore

Seeing as Lawson has better control than Edwards, I'd be more willing to pick him for the 1st Test. I do hope you're right that MacGill doesn't play, because the West Indies batsmen (bar Lara, Chanderpaul and Sarwan) tend to be hopeless against anything approaching quality spin.

There's something seriously wrong if they pick Bracken ahead of MacGill. I mean, seriously, if you were the West Indies, who do you think you'd least like to face - taking into account their style of bowling and their respective Test records? It's a myth that Gabba Test pitches are 'greentops'. I remember two years ago against India, where it rained the day before the game and the first two days of the match. Despite that, India scored 350, and then Australia posted 400+. Likewise, even New Zealand posted 350+ last year, batting first. And we all know what happened when Nasser Hussain sent Australia in back in 2002 on a 'greentop'.

Bracken does have a very good record in FC gams at the GABBA, it would not surprise me at all if they picked him.

Is Powell actually going to be 100 percent fit for the first test? He didnt bowl in the second innings of the tour match and he left teh feild early in queenslands first innings. There was a lot of talk before this tour about his conditioning that he was not strong enough hes a wondeful bowler so i hope he can get through full test matches. Tino Best is to raw he will give away boundaries for sure. Lawson has the proven track record hes got pace bounce and accuracy to boot i would play him ahead of dwayne bravo for sure, i actually rate dwayne smith a better bowler than bravo. I think he will struggle to get more than 1 wicket a test match. my team would be.

1.Devon Smith
2.Chris Gayle
3.Ramnaresh Sarwan
4.Brian Charles Lara
5.Shvinaraine Chanderpaul(C)
6.Marlon "I Believe I can Fly" Samuels
7.Denesh Ramdin(WK)
8.Darren Powell (if fit otherwise Dwayne Smith or Dwayne Bravo)
9.Corey Collymore
10.Fidel Edwards
11.Jermaine Lawson

I know its a long tail but against the aussies you need as much fire power as you can get. Im a bit dissapointed Ricardo Powell missed out on the test tour hes never been given a chance but i felt he could have really taken it to the australians wonderful feildsman can bowl a few offies. Hes only 25 odd i bet he will get another chance at test level
