Meanwhile in deepest Natal, a certain Lance Klusener is batting and bowling for the Dolphins, what a waste..

indeed, even with attitude problems hes a good player and would be very valuable to RSA with both bat and ball.

I saw him bowling in Cape Town, and like Pollock, the pace seems to have gone down but the nouse hasn't.. And a Kemp, Klusener combo would be as mouthwatering as Pietersen and Flintoff..

It seems nowadays that even if they make lots of poor decisions they still get hundreds of thousands of dollars every year and get paid like world class umpires. When fact is they're not.
Are they all worse tahn in yesteryear or are any mistakes extremely magnified now?

an australian cricket fan would have to be deaf and blind not to know about McGrath and Lee getting fined..... once again it's purely subjective however what the term these days mean.
No, it's not.

These days refers to a period of a year or 2 usually.

Zoysa's a good hitter, so in the final overs or powerplays, he should be sent in to bat, only to hit the big shots
He also averages in the low teens, he's far from a number 7 and selecting him just because of his "big hitting" shows the serious flaw in your theory.

well obviously they are more magnified now... Why ask the question???

however in my opinion the umpiring standards of the current umpires is worse than the crop of umpires we had 5-10 years ago. Dar is proving bad, Koertzen lost it, Bowden is struggling and Bucknor's getting old. Yet they're still getting paid so much money and when they make a mistake that doesn't change.

apologies marc. Once again your definition of phrases in the English language is gospel.

Why do you say that?

Because there's far more scrutiny now than in the past?

Of all the quicks in the Pura Cup, only McGrath has a better FC average

people have been scrutinising the umpires decision for a long long time now.

Sure there's new technology around to prove just how woeful the current crop is. In my opinion you can't compare Dickie Bird, Rent a Caravan, Bucknor (5 years ago), Hair (5 years ago) with the current crop. The guys from the early 90's and even late 90's were so much better.

That's just my opinion marc. I'm extremely sorry if it doesn't agree with yours.

The current Lankan ODI side, whatever be the combination, can't be far better than this one.
  • Sanath
  • Chandana (LB)
  • Sangakkara
  • Dilshan
  • Marvan(C)
  • Mahela
  • Zoysa (LMF)
  • Tharanga (WK)
  • Vaas (lMF)
  • Muralitharan (OB)
  • Dilhara (RFM)
  • RESERVE: Vandort (For Sanath)
  • RESERVE: Bandara (LB, for Murali)
  • RESERVE: Malinga (RFM, for Dilhara)
  • RESERVE: Naveed Nawaz (for middle-order)
QUOTE]

Nawaz is too old to make a comeback. Kapugedara,Gajanayake,Kandambi are the likely prospects for the middle order. and I wouldn't count out Lokuarachchi. he could be a reserve for chandana.

Australia win the toss and bat first, Martyn opening with Jaques and Dorey in the side. Saffies leave out Rudolph for some reason despite his 50 against Sri Lanka.

Leaving Rudolph out is an absolute disgrace, especially considering Ashwell Prince is now batting at #4 and Van Der Wath is the supersub...

I really didnt expect anything this stupid from the South African selectors.
