Is it just me, or is the NSW crowd actually booing Hayden??? Bit uncharitable.

I think he's actually using this innings to try and get back a bit of touch, which is why he's not really forcing the issue. There's no hurry on the total, afterall, and he could certainly use the time, because he looks very ragged.

... oops, he just holed out off Razzaq.

Hayden has been batting slowley at the start of his innings for ages now, and more often than not unless he goes on to get a 100 or 70+ he never really up's the run rate..

I disagree about Langer. I do think he has improved his one day game, but I don't think he's even in the top five incumbents as far as ability and deservedness go. And he's had more than his share of international cricket, which I think is a genuine issue. So many players have come and gone in the last decade without playing nearly as much international cricket as their talent warranted, often none at all.

Another UGLY failure from hayden. It was the perfect time to get back into form because there is no pressure tonight and a rubbish attack, but he sucked, as he has for agess.
Hes looking like the hayden from a decade ago.
Time to go.

UGLY is just the word..

he cant even find the gaps when he does hit a good shot, basicly the only boundrys he gets are those ugly walk down the wicket slogs...

It's so refreshing to see an Aussie batsman so out of form. Bring on February!
I suspect he will get back into good test from at some stage, but screw him in the ODI's..

The commentators have had the blinders on for years regarding Hayden. (edit: Not to mention a majority of my fellow queenslanders)

And as I write this, he has hit out and gotten out, about time too.
I'd hate to see what you write when he's really out of form.

He's not overrated if he doesn't destroy attacks at an average of 70+ just to keep you happy.

What about Andrew Symonds? Five ducks in his last six games.

Have you ever seen a batsman who leaves so many deliveries, so far in to an innings? Even Mark Taylor was at least trying to play every ball after 5 overs, wasn't he?

At least he doesn't waist 65 odd balls to score about 27 runs..

It's not the fact he's not scoreing many runs that bothers me it's the selfish and slow natuare he is playing, and he has been for quite some time as well..

Hayden's average is artificially inflated by relatively high scores and not-outs in cushy run-chases (although today's performance hints that he's not even capable of that any more)

http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2004/JAN/046251_COL-STATS_16JAN2004.html

Batsmen who prefer a run-chase
ODIs Ave 1st bat ave (1) 2nd bat ave (2) Difference (2-1)
Hayden 82 40.85 29.47 61.25 31.78
Gavaskar 108 35.13 24.22 48.85 24.63
Fleming 211 31.62 24.25 40.88 16.63
Cronje 188 38.64 33.03 47.46 14.43
Sehwag 81 35.41 29.4 40.95 11.55
Thorpe 82 37.18 31.5 42.88 11.38

Since his reasonable average is the only thing justifying his spot, and since his average is, in reality very little justification, I don't believe I'm being too hard on him at all.

crappy game by Pakistanies today. I really feel they lost it when Razzaq got out in that ridiculous toss-up.

Yes i am of the opinion that Inzi should be dropped from the OD lineup. One doesn't have to do it right away, but keeping the '07 WC in mind Pakistan will have to get rid of Inzi and have him replaced by a younger batsman in six months time.
Even though he's still performing at the moment?

3 innings in this series, 3 50s.

I mean granted he is one of the best fieldsmen going round and he can bowl in the middle overs but five ducks in six games is dreadful.
To be fair, that's likely to become 5 ducks in 7 games now ;)

Not even he can make a duck when he doesn't have to bat!

What's with all these claims that Hayden has been out of form in ODIs for years? He was the TOP scoring Australian player in the 2004 calendar year in ODIs with 946 runs @ 41.13, and behind only Dravid, Sangakkara and Ganguly overall in the world.

Similar story for Symonds, who averaged over 50 in the 2004 calendar year and was fourth in scoring.

what was Hayden's strike rate and how many hundreds did he make though..

Clarke gets his 100...

Ponting certainly sacrificed his strike rate to get him there though..
