why what has the WI done in tests to show you that they are anything other than rubbish? as far as im concerned, they're still easily the worst test team in the world, and whether or not they can perform in ODIs is irrelevant.

That would account for Harmison's fall from grace - he was never any good, he just played against crap teams. 8-)

Exactly. They like picking and choosing facts when it works for them.

Of course averages of 47 and 41 are nothing to do with ability then!
So??? I never said that the guy is not a good player, my only objection is that the guy is not consistent. He is one of the most senior batsmen of Pak team, still he has been found wanting while playing against the major sides on most occasions.

2xc doing that?

A guy that believes Sachin has never played a match-winning innings in test cricket and who cant bat on seaming wickets. You cannot be serious!

why because you cant argue against it? seriously ive already shown many many people that they have been rating tendulkar far too highly for his career, you might wanna look at some of the 'is tendulkar a choker' threads which has all the arguments that you could possibly think of making.

and ive been doing that havent i? simply categorising me amongst all the people who overrated harmison is quite ludicrous. yes i still do rate harmison, i never rated him as the best fast bowler in the world, but i do think that he bowled well against a quality NZ batting lineup.

isnt it amazing how kasparowicz continues to perform while lee continues to bowl rubbish? mr world class.
2xc, you will no doubt respond to this with your usual "I have the stats, my opinion is definitive" rubbish but how do you account for the fact that Mark Nicholas and, I think, Mark Taylor, described Lee's first spell as "exceptional fast bowling."

Lee's first spell, from memory, was 4-0-26-1. Statistically poor but what was the reality of his performance.

Over 4 bowled to Inzy went for 15 runs - statistically poor. However, scoring shots were:

1. glove from in front off the face over keeper's outstretched hand to fence for 4;

2. edge over slips for 4;

3. top-edge over fine leg for 6 (believe it or not, sometimes the pace of the ball is an assistance to the batsman); and

4. edge to third man for a single.

That's why I keep advising you to watch cricket not simply download results.

BTW, calling possibly the 2nd best batsman of all time a "choker" and someone that cant play on seaming wickets is damaging your credibility.

yeah, lee's first spell was a lot better than the figures suggested. He and McGrath were getting them playing and missing just about every ball, pakistan were lucky that they were only a few down before Lee was taken off.

Andy Bichel played well last night for the World XI. Any chance of him getting a recall? I rate him quite highly. Isn't he the leading wicket taker this season in Aussie domestic cricket. He said in a interview that he still thinks there is a chance he might get a recall. Why did he get dropped in the first place?

Matthew Elliot also looked pretty good scoring a blazing 50 however he seemed very pesimistic regarding his chances of ever making the Aussie team again in either form. He said he was getting too old and thought the selectors won't look at him again. He really blew his chance against Sri Lanka last year I recall.

Elliot will never play for Australia again. If Langer or Hayden were to be replaced it'd be Katich or someone similar who would slot in.

Bichel is in fine form with bat and ball this season, if he were a few years younger he'd be a shoo-in for the Aussie team. As it is, Australia are looking forward to Watson/Hopes/White for their all-round players. Despite Bichel's fine form, I'd say he's played his last internationals I'm afraid.

After what series did he get dropped? and why?

He got dropped after last years (2003/4) VB Series. Probably becuase they wanted a new edge. Personally, I'm a Bichel fan and he played an amzing innigns at Telstra Stadium a couple of weeks back in the ING cup. He's also been bowling well in the ING.

On the same dropping case, Michael Bevan also has to be ****ed. He got dropped and now hes light years ahead of the next best batsman in the ING. It's a bit of a shame, but Australias got so much good talent they ight as well play em (clarke, Watson) into experience now rather than later.

He, along with someone else who will not be mentioned, likes to comment on matches they never watched. Of course the scorecard and match report is enough to judge someone on 8-)

And on top of that, they use expert comments to back them up when it works for them, however when someone elses brings up commentary or articles written about people on the INSIDE of the game, well they know absolutely nothing and are, and I quote, "rubbish".

Whatever it takes!!!
Seems Marto is being rested for tomorrow's game. Katich is gonna play. Can he do well at no.4? I always fancied him as a top order batter. How has he been in the middle order?
