On Asim, i think the guy is a good compact batsman and there is no harm in trying him in OD matches. Guys like Danish and Asim should be given a chance to prove themseleves in the shorter format of the game too.
Fair enough on Danish but as far as Asim is concerned he a test batsman & why do you want a player in oneday side who would eat 100 balls and would score just 20 runs? just to slow the run rate?

Hayden is on 3 while Clarke is on 31 LOL.
Hayden's just played a couple of shots to try and regain some dignity. Do you think he's just now realising that Clarke's showing him up as the imposter that he really is?

Clarke and Gilchrist, just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?

It really, really does. :)

With the number of talented cricketers Australia have I find it almost astonishing that Andrew Symonds isn't coming under greater pressure from the media, fans etc regarding his place in the ODI team. I mean granted he is one of the best fieldsmen going round and he can bowl in the middle overs but five ducks in six games is dreadful. Surely there is someone in a country with such depth that can replace someone playing so porely. I think Symonds should be counting himself very lucky considering much much better players than him have been dropped for performing not as badly as him. Take Mark Waugh and Michael Bevan for example.

Can anyone remember the last time Hayden actualy started an ODI inning quickly...
No, which is why I couldn't believe my ears before when one of the commentators said that Hayden is usually the aggressive one.

Well this guy Anjum was certinly taken to cleaners today, the guy is crap but i feel sorry for him as he was against champion batsmen.

And where is the Pak left arm bowler Khaleel who had claimed before the tour that if Irfan Pathan can be successful in Australia then he can also produce similar results?
I guess the guy has by now realised that imulating Irfan Pathan is not all that easy.

I know your agenda but how about saving it for when its deserved. Kasper didnt perform any better than lee today. And he didnt have to face afridi teeing off.
except that lee got hammered even by the pakistani top order, he in fact improved his figures by bowling to the tailenders. had figures of 7-0-42-1 at one stage and that was with mcgrath bowling as economically as ever at the other end. if you think that lee performed just as well as kaspa did today then you are obviously out of your mind.

Well there are certain players that are automatic selection in both format of games in Butt, Youhanna & Akhtar. Of them all only Youhanna can be considered for captaincy as Butt has just started his career and Akhtar is injury prone.

However if Inzi and Youhanna doesn't do justice with the job then a decent player who possess leadership quality should be accomodated in both format of the game and be named captain. This has be done in past and isn't something new.

On Asim, i think the guy is a good compact batsman and there is no harm in trying him in OD matches. Guys like Danish and Asim should be given a chance to prove themseleves in the shorter format of the game too.
yep that somes it up perfectly for me. personally i dont think youhanna has done anything astonishing that he deserves to be an automatic choice in both forms of the game, but thats a different story altogether.

Hayden is batting pretty damn selfishly. He leaves everything and then takes singles off the last ball of the over. The crowd didn't pay wads of money to see Clarke's innings and rhythm cut off by Hayden selfishly trying to crawl back into form.

And now the crowd is waking up to it! Hayden takes another single off the last ball and gets a chant of "BOOOOOOOOORING!" for it! Haha, just desserts.

Is it just me, or is the NSW crowd actually booing Hayden??? Bit uncharitable.

I think he's actually using this innings to try and get back a bit of touch, which is why he's not really forcing the issue. There's no hurry on the total, afterall, and he could certainly use the time, because he looks very ragged.

... oops, he just holed out off Razzaq.

Hahahahaha suck sh*t Hayden! After a cringeworthy French cut, he hits a high ball straight down the throat of third man!!

I love this game.

The commentators have had the blinders on for years regarding Hayden. (edit: Not to mention a majority of my fellow queenslanders)

And as I write this, he has hit out and gotten out, about time too.

Clarke is certainly posing some interesting questions regarding the Australian top order...

And I know that not many people seem to think this, but I still believe Justin Langer has something to offer in one-day cricket.

I'm with you SL, Langer's been a demon in ODD cricket for quite some time as well.

Four more runs for Clarke makes all three innings opening the batting this series scores of 50+
