Bravo is a bowler, let him be. You can always ask him to improve his batting but allrounder is way too much.
I was very much under the impression that Bravo was an all rounder though?

Rain... :( Hope it doesn't ruin what has been a good game thus far.
Those 2 wickets could have a big bearing on the D/L target.

They've lost a lot of their resources already!

Not a bad effort by the Windies batsmen against typically disciplined bowling and fielding.

A pretty ugly effort by Hinds and still far too many dot balls, but he picked it up nicely towards the end and it was obviously a very valuable knock.

Gayle came out in blast everything mode and was never going to produce more than a quick cameo. He has only 2 speeds - stop and go - and in "go" mode his innings is often ended by a dumb, premeditated shot, as it was today.

Sars and Samuels looked classy, but suffered sloppy/comical dismissals. Shiv and Bravo played excellent little innings to up the momentum just when it was needed (though Bravo looks worryingly "bottom-handed").

The Prince, of course, was robbed, though "Honest" Adam - who had a great view - obviously saw a knick, so maybe the replays were misleading.
Snickometer showed a noise as it passed the bat, and Lara was fiddling with his handle before the dismissal. Personally I think with the ball going past at 145km/h and Lara flashing at it, it would be very hard to tell whether it was edged or not.........without the benefit of numerous replays of course.

It was quite a long way from the bat though. Didn't look out to me on a first pass - I thought the bat must have hit the ground for the noise, although it seems it was a "clicky handle" on Lara's bat. Certainly the first replay made it clear, I don't think more than one was required to see what had happened.

well the umpire is not blind. atleast he is not supposed to be.
hearing a sound is no excuse, you have to hear the sound AND see contact.
enough times there is a sound of the bat hitting the pad ...its not like spinners get bat-pad dime a dozen.
There was a few INCHES between the bat and the ball.
Lara was robbed there. End of story.
There was yes, and it was easy to see when it's slowed down for the replay. What was your decision seeing it first time around? Lara trying to drive and a noise as it passes the bat, milliseconds after that the bat is actually through the line of the ball.....it's easy from the armchair hey!?

At full speed I didn't pick it.......and I watched it after the original replay where it was obviously not out so I can see where the umpire was coming from. I'm probably a bit jaded after all the umpiring debates on here already though :p

As a sidenote, where are you from C_C? I'd be very interested to know.

Sympathy for the umpire is fine - IMO, Taufel is in the main an excellent umpire. I don't think there's any doubt that Lara was hard-done by though, and I expect that if I was a WI supporter, I'd be feeling pretty annoyed about it.

I had assumed that C_C was from the subcontinent, maybe India?

bad news
A Pakistan player has been accused of raping a woman in Melbourne during the team's current tour of Australia. Bob Woolmer, the Pakistan coach, revealed that the team was "stunned" following the allegation, AAP reported. The rape was alleged to have taken place while the Pakistan team was in Melbourne for the Boxing Day Test.

Woolmer said he had spoken to the players about the accusation during Pakistan's training session at the SCG and that they were all completely shocked by the allegations. Meanwhile, it was also reported that the woman had not made a formal complaint about the incident to police, but reported the incident to a suburban Centre Against ***ual Assault (CASA).

"Personally I don't think anyone in the dressing-room was involved," Woolmer said. "We don't know what the truth is or what has actually happened and until we find out I'm afraid we don't have much more to say at the moment." He also added that the allegations were being taken "very seriously" and were being "dealt with in-house".

I'm generally very impressed by Taufel's umpiring, but - as Slow Love mentions above - he missed it by enough for the ump to spot it, regardless of any incriminating noises.

The rain delay should help WI at this moment as D-L method will assit WI as AUS are in a bad position at 12/2 in 5 overs if the game is reduced to 20 overs Aus will have a big target to achive

I live in Canada and i've actually spent little time in the subcontinent apart from vacations....most of my family is based around Kolkata region.

was your decision seeing it first time around?
My first reaction was not out...c'mon..that was plain as daylight....and i am not even watching on tv but seeing through webcast.

Maybe I am reading this wrong... it seems to suggest that if Australia's innings is reduced to 20 overs, their target will be 84 if they don't lose any further wickets, 100 if they lose one more wicket, 121 if they lose two more, 143 if they lose three more and so on. If that's the case than WI really need wickets - I don't think Ponting and Martyn will have much trouble knocking off another 69 runs in 15 overs given their form. Hope the Windies win this one...

AUS chase 196 from 28 overs

WI should win this if their bowlers have an inch of sensibility.
