Hahaha you have no clue. Brian Lara wants success for his team more than ANYONE in the world.

yeah, and you'd know better than the WI management who made him captain ?

Some guys at work today tried to goad me into putting $1000 - at $1.30 - on Australia to beat the Windies tomorrow, as I'm always talking about what a white-wash this summer will be. I left work today saying that I would - a $300 almost certain collect is very tempting - but Ive decided to bale out of it. Im going to the game tomorrow and, if I laid the bet, it would be 8 hours of absolute trauma.

Good to see Inzi backs his other batsmen!:

"Our thinking was that if we come in the middle of the innings, we would be able to hold the innings together in case of a collapse which we expected against a focused Australian bowling in tough Australian conditions."

Just read that Inzy will be coming in at 4, and I believe Youhana will come in at 3 for the rest of the VB Series. I'm glad to hear that.

When do you Pakistanis think these experiments are going to end? i think Pak would continue to experiment their batting side right till the '07 WC. Really there is no need for silly experiments, they should have a stable side or else they will continue to struggle.

I get the feeling that Woolmer is gathering up data. His first 'phase' has been prolonged, and he continues to test everything that pakistan have got.

Also, he's bent upon making Pakistan a more 'utility players' team, much like South Africa.

All in all, this experimentation is all fine as long as something concrete comes up out of this.

My impression's of Akmal are that he's NOT a top order batsman, more like a lowerish middle order. As an opening batsman, i dont think he has the correct technique.

It would of been risky because the windies have the batting firepower to win against anyone IF they fire which is probably only a 20% chance.

I can't believe people were actually saying it was going to be a West Indies and Australia final. Just because Australia made Pakistan look mediocre in the Tests, that doesn't mean anything in ODIs. And doesn't Australia make everyone look mediocre? There is no chance in hell for West Indies, they are a washed up team and their win in the Champion's Trophy doesn't change that fact. Their bowling is not even a fraction of what it used to be and their batting which has relied on Lara for years will also dwindle when he is gone.

Australia will beat Pakistan in the best of three finals 2-1... this looks like an interesting series though... the Pak-Australia match was the best so far... some good fireworks from Afridi and a good win from Australia.

As opposed to Pakistan's spectacular bowling attack?!

All well and fair that West Indies isn't anywhere near superpower status, but come on, WI is at least as good as Pakistan.

Both have questionable bowling attacks, but let's watch the batting...

Gayle v Butt - at the very least they're tied.
Akmal v Browne - can't judge yet. Akmal must prove that innings wasn't a fluke first. If he does, he smokes Browne.
Hafeez/Hameed/Khan v Sarwan - Sarwan slightly.
Inzamam v Lara - Lara.
Youhana v Chanderpaul - about equal. Consider where most of Youhana's success has come.
Afridi v Powell - equal.
Razzaq v Bravo - Razzaq's too much more experienced to call this one.

Samuels slots in somewhere there, but he's not by any means the worst batsman either.

Sorry, I was harsh... but I just don't rank West Indies as high as Pakistan. Not saying Pakistan is a super power either. Pakistan's bowling has gotten considerably weaker but it has a good ODI batting line up... they chased West Indies' 273 with ease.

That pitch was hardly one to judge. The West Indies has chased many a big score too. IMO the West Indies lineup is at least as potent, if not more.

West Indies line up minus Lara= nothing special... hey, that's just my opinion. And since 1999, the ODI stats are 11-5 in favor of Pakistan. That is what I am getting at.

Lara's hit out at Bravo. He's supposed to be a battng allrounder in Lara's eyes. That's why he didn't play against Pakistan.

Teams always have to walk a fine line with youth players. The West Indies especially need to becareful if they're going to pick so many 18 or 19 year olds at once.

Bravo is not going to mature over-night. It's not often you see a 20 year old from any Country develop into a world-class player within their 1st year of international cricket.

If The West Indies want to develop these players for the future, then they must be prepared to lose games now to enjoy success later IMO.
