No, true. I'd be surprised if there were any specific stipulations about denying surgery in it tho.

Say what you like about Ravi Bopara (and plenty have) but he turned down the IPL's $s to play county cricket in May. Obviously I don't know their respective financial situations, but would imagine Sehwag's net worth has an extra couple of zeros on the end of it.
Yeah not only was Sehwag's contract worth( 2 million versus 100k) a lot more, but Bopara was initially interested in playing the IPL but no one picked him up in the initial auction.

Only later he rejected a contract worth less with the Rajasthan Royals to play county cricket.

but will they be interested after the series when they are no longer no.1?
doubt it.
they might care about the odd big series but besides that meh
We've not been #1 for far much longer than we've been #1. As long as the team isn't devoid of entertaining players, we'll watch them play. We survived 0-3 to Australia, 0-2 to South Africa, and the match fixing crisis. We'll outlast this phase.

I'm just imagining a CricketWeb forum with all our grandkids posting on it.

Himannv's grandson: Dude, your granddad was such a troll.
smalishah's grandson: Hey, your granddad was such a **** in drafts.
Spark's grandson: Both you two ****s are offtopic and hence banned!! Btw England sucks!!
Keep my kids out of the discussion! (or alternatively, lock up your daughters )

This tour must be like reliving 06/07 for him. Dodgy prep, half the players are all hospital and the ones who aren't just want to go home. And when he does get back he's got to defend his job.
You mean the tour of India? Was it really as bad back then for him as it is now?

Yeah, I think I mentioned in the whitewash thread before this test how uncannily this series reminds me of 06/07 Ashes.

India should take heart from it tbh. Must be horrible to witness but they will definitely recover. :)

No sympathy for Sehwag. Played the IPL until Delhi couldn't make finals, and ****ed himself up. I strongly doubt he couldn't have withdrawn due to an injury. He made that decision, and he now has to live with it. Just like India have to live with the consequences as well, including rushing him back.

Australia and 48 in Australia after 71 matches. He scored two centuries in Australia, but neither were against the Aussie attack that had Warne AND Mcgrath.
Bit of context; both those tons were scored against an attack including Craig McDermott, one of the top strike bowlers of the time, the second on a ridiculously quick WACA pitch, all at 18 years of age. This was the days before the FTP too so had India not waited almost a decade to tour here again, would have been a better than fair chance that he would have scored some runs here against Warne and McG.

Not taking anything away from Cook, though. He's been a monster. It'll be interesting to see how long he can keep this up.

King pair. FFS.

How many openers have ever got a king pair in tests?
Second opener in Test history to get a king pair.

Only 13 king pairs altogether.

Mukund nearly got one but he was dropped in his second innings. He would have got out to the first ball of each innings had the ball been caught.

The only positive I can see from this sorry test is that we have not never been in this game from the very start saving me the waking up early. This is worse than the 90s at least then Sachin used to score a century and we could feel happy for that.
