true but players competing at the top level past their 30s has been a rarity since as well, other than lendl, agassi and now federer, i can't recall another player right now who was able to do that...sampras won the u.s open at 32 but he was not even close to the player he was in his 20s at that point...It happened in Mens tennis as well really, Becker, Chang, Edberg, Wilander, Courier all stopped winning around mid-twenties (Beckers oz Open win a bit of an anomaly after prodigious starts.
Indeed, but I'm suggesting it will start to happen on both tours now, because they won't be burnt out. The age range of the top men are getting higher all the time, we'll see I welcome it though, I like long careers gives better narratives as long as it's refreshed with youngsters on a regular basis.true but players competing at the top level past their 30s has been a rarity since as well, other than lendl, agassi and now federer, i can't recall another player right now who was able to do that...sampras won the u.s open at 32 but he was not even close to the player he was in his 20s at that point...
Quite frankly hope he doesn't play the Dubs, we have some decent doubles players and it will keep him fresh. Ward could always do another of his shocks too, and it's the French, they're flaky as ****.They've decided to play the Davis Cup tie with France at Queens Club. If Murray is fit enough to play 3 matches we might win - if he isn't we lose.
If we're 2-0 up he won't play the doubles but if it's 1-1 it would be risky not to play him.Quite frankly hope he doesn't play the Dubs, we have some decent doubles players and it will keep him fresh. Ward could always do another of his shocks too, and it's the French, they're flaky as ****.
Andujar about to beat Ferrer as well!Fognini backed up his big win in typical fashion, folding 1-6 3-6 to Andújar.
Those moonballs had me cheering for Kerber, and I don't do that very often, after the Hantuchova incident.Kerber taking the Porsche in Stuttgart. Must say it suits the Sharapovas and Wozniackis of the world better than her.
Does play her best tennis when behind, got awfully tentative when trying to close it out. I suppose that goes for Wozniacki too but she did take her lead with moonballs.
Good thing about WTA that, no match is like the other. (Well except Serena 6-0 6-0 beatdowns, but at RG those are less common than losses to random French players.)Those moonballs had me cheering for Kerber, and I don't do that very often, after the Hantuchova incident.
Was an interesting match I suppose, some great rallies and drama, but if every WTA match was like it, I think I'd stop watching it.
i don't see it happening...some big hitter will always take her out in the slams...That was an ordinary last 4-5 games by Wozniacki. Sure Kerber lifted her game but she should be closing those out if she wants a Slam.
