There is something between naked grass (plays like fast indoor carpet) and the beach. I see far too much of the beach. The sand absorbs the water. Without it it would just be as slippery.
Isn't the sand more to make the bounce even? Water based hockey pitches are basically the same material without the sand and the traction is fine. The sand absorbs the water. Without it it would just be as slippery.
Nah water based fields in hockey are way different to tennis courts. Take it from a one season field hockey veteran.Isn't the sand more to make the bounce even? Water based hockey pitches are basically the same material without the sand and the traction is fine.
Sand helps reduce wear (over no sand beach isn't actually better here). Also sets the pace of the court low sand SFSG are really fast (think indoor speeds). High sand SFSG have the inconsistent bounce of natural grass and are slower than clay. A well maintained mid to low sand SFSG is relatively low maintenance and great to play (easy on the body / good characteristics).Isn't the sand more to make the bounce even?
